We always pass by this place on our way to One Dim Sum so, after a couple of recommendations from friends, we finally decided to grab breakfast here for my boyfriend's birthday. My co-worker suggested I try their eggs benny so I went with the smoked salmon benny. I wasn’t in a rush so I didn’t mind but it seemed strange that a simple hollandaise would take that long. They have signs posted up that say “All food made to order, please leave 15-20 prep time”. Good to know that food is made fresh but seriously? I think there is much prep they could do beforehand to still keep food fresh but service quick at the same time. Maybe it's because my bf works in restaurants and I know that most of the prep is done beforehand that I find this to be quite ridiculous but then again, it seems as though there is only one person actually cooking in the back - doesn't make for a very smooth flow.

Anyways, when my dish came, I was slightly disappointed that the benny showed up on two halves of toast rather than the usual English muffin. I gently touched the surface of my eggs and they were only lukewarm. My boyfriend's plate as well. He assumed his plate had been sitting under a heat lamp whilst they finished preparing mine. When I cut into the toast, it wasn’t crispy like fresh toast should be (so much for "made to order"
). It had already started to soften and actually took quite some effort to cut through. The hollandaise was a little on the bland side but still edible. The eggs were well cooked with the yolk still runny and the smoked salmon tasted like any packaged smoked salmon you can buy. Overall, the food wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad - it was just average. With the wait time long and the price tag about double of our other regular breakfast choices, it seems unlikely for us to add this onto our list of favourites in Hong Kong. I think we both prefer the more chilled no-BS atmosphere at Flying Pan for a Western-styled breakfast.

If it was any consolation, the coffee wasn't bad (although only warm, not HOT like it should be!)
題外話/補充資料: It seems they are no longer open for dinner service. Just breakfast and afternoon tea.
