I took a big group of overseas visitors to Lei Yue Mun and picked Happy Seafood Restaurant because it was the only restaurant with harbour views and because of the many positive reviews here.We were not disappointed with the views or the decor, I had reserved a table ahead of time and we were given a large table right next to the window. We were not disappointed with the views or the decor, I had reserved a table ahead of time and we were given a large table right next to the window. I thought this restaurant looked newer and cleaner than the other restaurants that I've been to in Lei Yu Mun.
We got our seafood from Wang Lee Tai Pan, we had shrimp, tiger prawns, steamed fish, crab, lobster, clams, scallops on the shell and those scorpion-like things. Everything was very fresh and I thought the restaurant cooked each dish quite well. The lobster baked in cheese was notable because it looked like a mountain of mac & cheese when it came out, we were hesitant at first but people's expression actually changed once they took a bite, the lobster in cheese was delicious.
The only thing lacking here was the service - they were pretty slow at clearing our plates and we had to keep flagging the staff down to get new plates or refill our drinks. This place was also more pricey than the other restaurants in Lei Yue Mun, not factoring in the cost of the seafood, but I guess it was worth it for the better decor and view. I would come back again if I had an occasion to celebrate or to entertain overseas visitors.
