After visiting the new Hong Kong Palace Museum, we decided to take a break for a bit of food. The museum has three eateries and as this was a place we had not tried (I mean ... the Cupping Room is EVERY WHERE!), I chose this one.Crepes & Bakes is a cafe that serves crepes and baked goods. Menu is in English. There is no Chinese and the staff seem to only speak English. There is also n 10% service charge. Ordering is at the cashier where they will bring the food to you when ready.
At the cashier counter, they have this biscuits for free.
I ordered a Latte ($38). This was shocking to me as it was literally Nespresso. They even used Nespresso cup to serve it in. And to make matters worse, it tasted like they diluted it so it just tasted like brown water. To me, in this competing world of cafes, it seems everyone has an actual espresso machine. Especially since Cupping Room is just a couple of shops down. To serve Nespreso and watered down at that was shocking to say the least. Avoid the coffee here.
We shared a Salted Butter Caramel Crepe ($88). This was a super tiny scoop of caramel ice cream, three thin slices of caramelized apple on a thin crepe and drizzle of caramel sauce. This was simply sad to look at. The crepe was doughy. It was not very good. The toppings were skimpy and not generous at all. This was possibly the saddest crepe I've ever had in Hong Kong.
The food was simply disappointing. The free biscuit was the best thing I ate here. Service was friendly but yes ... definitely won't be back. There are better place in Hong Kong for this.
