Located in Mong Gok, on Dundas Street, it's a take away only shop. Menu is in Chinese only. Unlike many other places that sell curry fishballs, they sell a variety of different flavor fishballs (like black pepper and spicy) among other snacks like fries. For $20, you get 10 balls. So, I decided to order a cup of balls in BBQ flavor.
BBQ flavor was just a douse of their special BBQ sauce. There was also a dumping of pork floss on top. I really didn't think they would just pour sauce on top of my balls. The sauce itself wasn't that impressive. It tasted like watered down hoisin sauce. The balls, as their shop is called, was definitely al dente. It had a nice firm, bouncy bite. But the sauce was yeah ... not good at all. I also didn't understand the addition of the pork floss. What is up with that?
I wanted to say, I waited a long time for fishballs that were just topped with sauce and pork floss. Were the fishballs made when someone ordered them? Not that I noticed while waiting. I just saw them scoop them from a made batch. So, why did it take so long to get my order? There was a group of people just waiting for their orders as well. It wasn't like they were understaffed. There were at least 5 people working. That is a lot for a takeaway counter.It wasn't expensive. And I'm sure they have a good concept to try to make fishballs more than just curry fishballs. The balls were fine. I just didn't like the sauce. If only I could just ask for balls with no sauce as it did ruin it for me. I won't be back.
