If you like eating chicken 😅…… and
If you don’t mind loud music…….and
If you don’t mind heavy seasoning…. then, you may like the vibe in Yardbird.

We ordered various parts of the chicken, like chicken wings, oysters, thighs and meatballs grilled with different spices or herbs as specified on menu. As said, the seasoning was leaning on the heavy side. As the evening progressed, we had sampled different cuts of the chicken but had to say that it could get a bit ‘monotonous’. Having said that, the grilling masters did a good job and the chicken pieces were not tough but juicy. (There were already many uploaded pictures of different cuts of grilled chicken pieces in Open Rice so I wouldn’t repeat here.)

The standouts for me were:

YARDBIRD CAESAR

1. Yardbird Caesar Salad - it brought some freshness and acidity which were much needed to balance off the seasoning of the grilled meat;

SWEET CORN TEMPURA

2. Sweet Corn Tempura - the batter was very light and magically held together each grain of corn. The inside of this sphere shape tempura was not dry and sweetness of the corn came through in every bite. My only complaint was that it was too big and was quite filling; and

3. Mushroom rice - it was infused with intense mushroom aroma and filled with mushroom pieces (maitake, shiitake and eringi) and the risotto was cooked to perfection. It was very flavourful

As far as service level was concerned, it was not consistent; some servers being very nice in explaining and making recommendations on what to order whilst others (those standing at the door to welcome guests) were not helpful.

They provide multiple food choices in a two page food menu, based on traditional yakitori and fusion dishes. A modern Japanese izakaya restaurant serves vibrant yakitori and drinks in Sheung Wan neighborhood. They provide multiple food choices in a two page food menu, based on traditional yakitori and fusion dishes.

All skewered chickens are grilled over binchotan charcoal, the yakitori are so tender and juicy, and knee and thigh are must order items. Besides, KFC "Korean fried cauliflower" and katsu sando are my favorite foods to share, they are so flavorful and yummy.

The restaurant opens at 6pm and only operates from Tuesday to Saturday. Please make a reservation before going, they do not serve walk-in customers. To be honest, the food is a bit pricey but worth trying once.

We were instead taken aback by their poor service. As we were aware that only 50% of the restaurant would be available for walk-ins, and that they are hugely popular, my friend arrived before the shop opened to avoid waiting in line. Nevertheless, he was the first on the waiting line, only to know that another party behind him had been arranged seats before he was. It was because not all of his party was present, which is understandable but which he had not been informed of; staff didn't even ask when his companions would arrive. Not a great start of a night, but service throughout the meal was just as uncool. Staff picked up our plates one second after they were emptied - efficient as you may call it, but we found it stressful and too much in a hurry.

Food was alright, we liked the [ chicken meatballs ] and [ clams yaki soba ] in particular. However, not recommended for people who dislike cracking your voice amid loud music, and people who value service at a restaurant.

《Yardbird》是一家米芝蓮一星燒鳥店，主打備長炭燒製雞串燒；使用三黃雞的不同部位，包括雞腿、雞翼、雞頸、雞肝、雞尾還有更多刁鑽部位
雖說是米芝蓮一星、串燒燒得滿香，但整體來說，不算非常驚喜；反而，服務方面就令我們整體體驗不算太好

長話短說，就是等候入座時，排在我們後面的食客比我們還早入座，原因是我們的group還沒有到齊。完全可以理解，但事先沒有先通知，也沒有問我們朋友何時到，總之「你們要不就等到下一輪，要不就走」
為了嚐嚐他們的人氣燒鳥，最後也留下了...
入座後，服務員也好不了多少～服務員總是匆匆忙忙的，吃完一碟就收走盤子，令人吃得很有壓力；餐廳本來的定位是casual的，但實際上完全相反
唯一令人比較開心的一點是本來預計人均大概五百塊，但實際只是三百多🤣，但也吃的很飽～

環境來說，一步進門口，比較是酒吧的設置－高腳桌椅、吧檯；再往裡面走，則有一般餐桌
燈光昏暗，音樂嘈吵，跟朋友聊天都要拉高喉嚨喊著說話

燒得焦香可口，裡面有脆脆的雞軟骨；蘸好蘸滿照燒醬油跟蛋黃，超滋味！

粒粒玉米做成球體，炸成天婦羅再配上海鹽、黑椒
一咬下，即吃到粒粒味道微甜的玉米🌽
雖然具創意，但味道上沒什麼驚喜😕

餐牌上的飯麵選擇不少，但本人好推薦這款期間限定菜式，雖然價錢不菲
尤其是蜆肉愛好者，一定要點！
小麥麵用上忌廉炒製，吃起來很creamy，有意大利麵的感覺
看其他食客的圖片，他們的蜆比較大隻，擺盤也有不同；我們這晚的蜆較小，但份量較多，而且每隻都很厚肉、味鮮；醬汁的忌廉都煮進去了～

雞肉丸亦都係佢哋嘅主打推介，繼續食起嚟比較鬆化，而且好香，當然加埋雞蛋一定係絕配！雖然未到必食Level，但的確可以一試

炸粟米天婦羅係佢哋嘅主打推介，係好大個用完粒粟米炸成嘅粟米球！呢個都幾有驚喜，咬落去門口都是粟米粒，微微帶甜，啲粟米球裏面有更多嘅粟米汁，的確幾出色！

望落去好似韓式辣炸雞，坦白講食落去都好似！😱 唔知點解椰菜花可以做到咁樣！不過提提你，佢真係超級超級超級辣，食咗兩舊已經辣到頂唔順😂

我哋一共三個人，串燒類就每樣兩串share，一人飲咗兩杯啤酒左右，埋單$550都唔算貴！
串燒食食吓係覺得有少少鹹咗啲，但整體來講的確係幾出色，而且有啲驚喜！✅
