來到茶果財已經接近下午4:00,如果以下午茶時段來說,應該大部份人都感覺餓意,但我們剛於東方小祇園吃了late lunch,這時仍是飽到上心口,但依然要買來吃! 因為想起上次 (新年假期間) 3時多到達,全部茶果也售罄,這次時間已晚也可以買到,已算相當幸運!

眉豆鹹茶果 ($6/個)

我們全家都選了眉豆茶果,因為我們都對這店的鹹茶果情有獨鍾,通常一年兩訪大澳都必定要吃過才滿足! 現在物價飛漲,$6/個都依然很抵食! 茶果放在發泡膠箱內,但放上手中,依然熱辣辣的! 外皮薄薄的且煙煙韌韌,內裡就是大量的眉豆蓉,鹹鹹甜甜的,相當好吃


不過現在我沒學生時代般為食了,所以也就沒外帶回家lor~

每次去大澳都一樣係要拜訪既茶果財,係好耐之前買完茶果仲有個茶水煲提供茶比客人斟黎飲,不過依家冇左lu。今日一心想食豆沙茶果,可惜無晒,所以只好選擇花生茶果+豆沙糯米糍。花生茶果- 拎上手都仲係熱辣辣,有好多餡料,花生椰絲呀咁,其實都唔差既,不過我始終鍾意食豆沙味多d豆沙糯米糍- 外表雪白既圓形波波,軟綿綿,入面既豆沙冇得彈!!都係咁好食!

大澳有兩間出名嘅茶果,一間係依間,一間係隱姑。依間六蚊,隱姑要成8蚊。我當日兩間都買左一個眉豆即食,依間個皮比隱姑厚,餡同皮嘅比例較適中,個皮又夠軟,個皮依間勝。但講到餡,我就鐘意隱姑嘅味多少少,但隱姑個皮真係太薄,一邊食會一邊流餡,會食得好論盡。總括黎講,我覺得依間抵食過隱姑好多,所以試曬兩間之後,我決定臨走去買兩個花生茶果同紅豆茶果聽日食。但點知三點幾去,一大班旅行團,將花生茶果同紅豆茶果買曬,我最後唯有買兩花生糯米糍,兩個紅豆糯米糍同兩個眉豆茶果聽日食。隔左成晚估唔個茶果皮完全無變硬,叮番熱同即日食一樣咁好食,一樣咁軟。至於糯米糍真係好有驚喜,隔夜個皮都仲好好食,好軟,個紅豆餡又多,一心只買茶果嘅我,真係好有意外驚喜。 好鐘意,唔怪得依間三點幾就賣曬茶果,4點就連糯米糍都買曬。早知佢隔左夜都唔硬,我就買多幾個啦

I think this shop has the best mochi ever! With a filling of crushed peanuts and sugar, the mochi was so pillowy soft yet chewy, I felt like I was floating on cloud 9 while eating this.

去大澳一定要食呢間茶果, 門口常常排了一條人龍,今天人龍唔太多,10月去的時候4元,依家已經要5元一個,茶果有甜及咸,甜係花生,咸係眉豆的,我們次次都係食眉豆的,糯米糍都係分咸及甜,咸的係花生碎,甜的係豆沙,我們多數食花生碎.今日的茶果好似又細隻左咁, 但都好好味的, 皮夠薄,入面的眉豆都好入味,咸咸地咁,係眉豆溶. GOOD. 糯米糍勁多粉,個皮厚左少少呀, 但都好軟的, 好味呀.

The easiest way to find it is to turn left from the intersection (where you are coming from) onto 石仔埗街, then walk slowly, and 茶果財 will be on your right (this is the direction towards the hotel and waterfront/pier side). Use photo for reference, because there is no signage whatsoever.

Thankfully, I learned about this place from youtube food show "we eat n play", all credits go to hosts Brother Ho and Fat So.

Sure, you can get both 茶果 and 糯米糍 here, but 茶果 might be a bit more interesting at the other vendor (隱姑茶果), but you really want to save room for their distinctive old style Cantonese mochi 糯米糍. It's absolutely incredible, silky, and in a very very sexy way. Frankly it is not that much different than a fresh made one (no preservatives at that) by the 108 year old company in San Francisco called Benkyodo Co in Japantown. The difference is that the red beans are a touch less sweet, and the shaved peanut and powder used is distinctively Hakka style.

Perhaps nobody else in Hong Kong makes 糯米糍 like this anymore, and particularly the end result of the silky, slightly chewy, and extremely smooth texture.

The old couple that run this place have quite a lot of character. While they are seemingly less friendly than some of the other folks, they do appreciate your business, even if they seem like they argue with each other in conversation.

It is quite stunning to see this untouched part of Hong Kong, on this remote part of the fishing village on the island. I think I prefer the peanut version more than the red bean (since I am a huge peanut fan), but both are worth a try for your first visit.

Like all the other places that we stopped by, this place was old and dark, but it looked clean. One old guy in the back was making the peanut mochi (花生糯米滋)and one was in the front passing the already made glutinous rice dumplings to customers and handling money. They sure did have a system going. 
 It must be the culture of Tai O because these two old gentlemen were really friendly as well like everyone else we've met. You could taste that every dumpling made was made with heart and served with heart.
Each was individually wrapped and covered so that the bugs would do them no harm.

Taste & Value:
There were 2 different kinds of dumplings and each had 2 flavours to choose from. All were $5. For tourists or foreigners who don't know the difference, here is a little hint. Although both use glutinous rice flour and are steamed,the mochi (糯米滋) are always sweet and are rolled in glutinous rice four at the end, making it all powdery. 
For the Cha Guo (茶果), you could have a peanut filling, which was sweet or a savoury one that had a black eyed pea filling. I chose the black eyed pea one because I wanted a peanut filling mochi (花生糯米滋) so I didn't want them both to be peanut filled even though I love peanuts.

It was my first time having a non Chiu Chow Cha Guo so I didn't know what to expect. The outside was sticky but the filling interestingly had a dry, paste-like texture. I wasn't sure what else was in it, but the black eyed pea cha guo(眉豆茶果) was really good. It also was very hot, so you know that it was freshly made!

For the mochi, your choices were peanuts 花生糯米滋 or red bean paste豆沙糯米滋. 
After having the Cha Guo, I was really looking forward to my peanut mochi (花生糯米滋) and it didn't disappoint me. 
 
It had just the right amount of peanuts, coconut shreds, sugar and sesame? However, since everything in the filling were crumbs, it was really messy to eat. Oh well, I can put up with that since I don't have to worry being caught on camera with peanuts of flour all over my face. 
 $10 got me so full and satisfied so I declare that this money was well spent!

When I left, I bought 4 red bean ones and 1 peanut one to go for my family to try and they too thought that they were really good. My sister commented that she liked that the outer layer was thin and not thick unlike some other places.

在去文物館的途中,見到有糯米糍跟茶果賣原來老妹早幾年來的時候都有吃過先買了2個糯米糍,從外觀看來其他也差不多鹹的是花生口味,  甜的沒記得好像是豆沙口味2款都很好吃後來我又跑去買鹹的茶果但...都不合我們口味啦慢慢走,逛到午餐都忘了吃就來吉慶街找有什麼好吃的吧!!

花生甜茶粿- 外皮同樣的薄和煙韌. 內餡都是最為簡單的材料, 只有花生, 椰絲, 糖等, 一樣切得極為細碎. 花生, 椰絲很脆口, 惟很容易走入牙縫中. 花生香和椰絲香各佔一半, 誰都搶不到誰的味道. 最重要的是味道不過甜, 一口氣連吞兩個也不會過膩.
