To all intents and purposes, Amical looks as if it is closed. It is not. Go and ring the bell and get let up - it is one of the best coffee decisions you can make in HK.So, the place looks as if it was converted from an old apartment (probably was), but it is quite cosy and comfortable. So, the place looks as if it was converted from an old apartment (probably was), but it is quite cosy and comfortable. I ordered a latte and the barista immediately set to work crafting it with care as I took a seat. After presenting it to me, I asked for the sugar. He passed it to me, but told me to taste the coffee first, because the way they roast it, brings a natural sweetness out. He was right - no sugar required. Quite extraordinary. He also told me that the beans come from the Cameroon - this is quite unique in HK. As it is not a famous coffee producer, it is rare to find Cameroonian coffee used in cafes. It was nice. It did not taste like other African beans (eg - Ethiopian, Tanzanian or Kenyan) - perhaps the different coast makes for a different taste.
Anyway. The coffee and service were both good. the price ($40) is a little above average, but only by a couple of dollars. Basically, you get what you pay for - a great cup of coffee.
