  銅鑼灣新店獨有的限量款式,友人早前到來時無功而回,好在我們這次得償心願。三文魚原來炸至金黃,厚肉卻不乾柴,魚肉本氣甚重,新鮮羅勒提香下稍去腥。而酸味重的日曬蕃茄乾去膩感,沒有加芝士,就用Tonton Fernand自家蛋黃醬潤一下。雖說與蕃茄相襯,可還是不太喜歡黑橄欖,對我而言還是撇除橄欖更順口呢。

  聽友人說是店內人氣之選,反正我就是未有嚐過,當然要試試這豐盛牛堡。小蔥點出清香,澳洲牛肉漢堡扒厚度適中,沒有流失肉汁,保持不乾韌牛味。微脆煙肉添鹹香,同時有甜美濕潤的焦糖洋蔥平衡味道,絲毫不嗆。芝士部分為Raclette de Savole,熱溶厚滑,一咬便牽絲。因為用上BB Fernanad燒烤醬及Tata Fernanad Cocktail Sauce兩種醬汁。而且其他配料均帶點熱力水份,所以奉桌後還是儘早食用為佳,以免包身濕軟過頭。

  固定款當中的唯一素食之選,足料的層層Portobello充滿水分,軟身之餘中心帶爽很香口。Tomme de Savole Cheese略有牽絲,實際屬低脂肪含量--20-40%,食時罪惡感也低一點。再現剛才在兩個漢堡配搭當中出現過那味重的日曬蕃茄乾,以及可口的焦糖洋蔥。配以Tata Fernand的酸甜及小蔥的清香,沒有大口大口豐盛的肉感,卻不會乏味。

  金黃的French Fries $30(單點)大小長度不一,平時吃到的是附上自家調味的橙色薯條。不過現在就有淡味些少的香草口味,吃起來沒有本來的惹味,但依然香口。無懼室溫,即使放涼都沒有油溢味,尤其是沾著自家蕃茄醬及蛋黃醬同食時更少膩感。

  還記得以前在IFC本店接觸過Big Fernand的自家製Lemonade。嚐過原味、檸檬及西柚口味的The Elixirs of Archibald Fernand $35(單點)。可惜這次未見早前友人提起的石榴薄荷檸檬味,反而換上了蘋果甘草檸檬。一扭開蓋已是明顯的清新蘋果香,嚐起來也沒有記憶中非輕易讓人接受的甘草味。不過有時重口味一餐後,還是咖啡的平實感夠消滯,銅鑼灣店正正就有供應呢。

Among choices of beef, chicken and lamb burgers, we opt for the signature Le Bartholome again. The vegetarian mushroom burger is also a delicious alternative composed of juicy portobello mushroom, sun dried tomato and lusciously sweet caramelized onion, melted cheese and the same home-made cocktail sauce.

Besides, they have recently introduced a special edition burger which is only available at the Causeway Bay branch – L Salomon. It features perfectly deep fried fresh salmon fillet, loaded with chopped black olives, sweet sun dried tomatoes, a homemade sweet mayonnaise in the fluffy sesame bun.

Big Fernand hails from France and has many chains throughout France and also in London. Now, everyone knows the burger is the one food item that people associate with the good ol' USA. But  in a recent article from The Telegraph, the hamburger is the top selling dish in French restaurants. So much so, it almost over took the classic ham and butter baguette! Mon Dieu!

But as a Canadian, born and bred on the burger, I was skeptical. I told boyfriend for this new opening and he areed to try it out with me. As he is American, he also said "What do the French know about a burger?" Yeah ... really ... what do they know? So we went and we were prepared to hate.

But you know what?

We were pleasantly surprised.

Located in Causeway Bay, on a street that they are recently trying to make it hipper with new cool looking restaurants and cooler editions of sportswear like Nike Lab. The restaurant is larger than the IFC branch and more like an actual restauant.

Menu is in English only. They have various burgers including salmon and chicken for those that don't want beef and vegetarian for the vegetarians. You can make it into a combo. You also have the option of how rare you want your beef. Interesting that they even went all the way to blue. I know a friend who would love that  as he likes his beef so raw, it could probably still moo.

You basically pay (cash only) at the cashier. They bring the food to you when ready.

While waiting for our order, boyfriend noticed they had fake moustaches. So, we grabbed a couple and stuck it too our faces while we ate. That was a lot of fun.

I also noticed they had their own branded ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. The ketchup was ok. I can't help it. I'm a Heinz all the way kind of girl. But the mayonnaise was really good. Thick and creamy. They had actual egg yolk in the ingredients and you could really tell. This was good quality mayo.

The food arrived on a metal tray. Boyfriend and I joked that it looked like how prisoners were served. They also included a wet towel but they do have a sink in the middle of the restaurant for washing your hands.

Le Victor ($110). I ordered Le Victor which is veal, fourme d'Ambert, caramelised onion, coriander and  their sweet mayonnaise called Tonton  Fernand. For those that love blue cheese, this is your burger. The fourme d'Ambert was amazing. Strong and pungent. Just the way I love cheese. Combine with the sweet mayo, it all went together well. The meat was moist and juicy. It didn't look pretty but it tasted really good. The oil from the meat just flowed down. Just the way I like my burger. All this messy goodness without some stupid toothpick to hold it all in. I also ordered my meat a medium rare and I got a medium rare. The bun was a sweet delicious brioche bun that held together well despite all the grease action happening.

Salad ($30). I didn't fries so I chose a salad. I like they had salad. Originally wanted fruit salad but they had run out  for the day so I had this instead. It came with a very tart balsamic vinegar dressing.  The salad was fairly good. I liked they used sundried tomatoes.

French Lemonade ($35). They have their own branded lemonade called The Elixers of Archibald Fernand.  They come in four flavors: natural, lemon, grapefruit and pomengranate/peppermint/lemon. This is the grapefruit one. Boyfriend combined it with a combo that included this and he chose lemon. Fairly good, it tasted like the one brand of lemonade that I like get from the Italian grocery shop near my home. Fresh lemon taste without being too tart or too sweet.

Le Bartholome ($115). Boyfriend chose this. It looked more like a burger than Le Victor. I guess it's due to all thecheese leaking out. This was a beef burger with raclette de savoie cheese, bacon, caramelised onions, chives, barbecue sauce and cocktail sauce. Personally, I liked the sauce on here. I love barbecue sauce so this mixture of sauces was really good. The beef was requested a medium rare and we got a medium rare. However, the beef was not as moist and juicy as Le Victor. The bacon was crispy and the cheese was fairly strong.

At this point, I noticed that size of the patties weren't small at all. I remember reviews at the IFC branch noted that the bun was bigger than the patty and thus a major disappointment among these reviewers. I guess they must have read these reviews because patty size was actually not small at all. A very decent size.

Boyfriend ordered the combo as he wanted fries. The combo is an additional $50 and includes fries and a lemonade.  There is something about the French. They really know how to make an excellent fry. The fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They were perfectly seasoned where each fry was evenly coated. These were good fries.

We were both surprised, The French really do know how to make a good burger. Price isn't cheap but then this isn't McDonald's but along the lines of other gourmet burgers in town that charge $100 a patty. I would return again.

太座的 Le Victor,牛仔肉肉色較淺,肉味不及牛肉濃,並給creamy的藍芝士覆蓋,幸好芝士味道不濃,太座喜歡,同樣帶甜的洋蔥和特製的 mayonnaise令包很好味,薯條味道不錯,惟未解決薯條不夠長的問題,上次問過是因選了質優但個子小的薯仔,所以做出來的薯條看來較短和碎,檸檬飲品是從法國入口的,不過不失。

I tried Big Fernand when they opened last year and I loved it.

They were known for small patties but now the patties have increased in weight to  compete with other burger joints.
On this visit, I didn't know they made the patties bigger so I ordered two because last time I had to eat two to feel full.

When I took a bite, I discovered the patties were bigger but still as tasty as before.
We ordered Le Victor and Le Bartholome.

Le Victor has a sweet touch with strong blue cheese in it while Le Bartholome has a smoky touch with a hint of cajun.

The fries were crispier with a seasoned coating which wasn't there previously.

Trying out this newly opened burger joint in cwb. Having tried their first branch in IFC, I found that the second shop is a lot bigger with a better privacy while the one in IFC is pretty opened with an opened kitchen as well! The place offers the same menu, probably the same price, but with more comfortable seating in my point of view. After ordering my burger, it took them around 5-10 mins to freshly prepare your meal so I spent some time taking  a look at their condiments which include mayo,

I have ordered a veal burger with fries and white tea. The veal burger is supposed to be leaner and the burger itself has no bacon which should be lower in calorie.

The bun was warm with a great amount of roasted sesame seeds on top, then it comes to a medium rare veal pattie and a good layer of French cheese. The juiciness was over the top, while the taste from the beef wasn't too pleasant in my point of view. The beef taste was mild, and was almost overpowered by the strong cheese. The bun to me was a little too lightly toasted and became all soggy from the juice of the pattie.

The fries are nicely seasoned though but the white tea was surprisingly sweet which was unexpected as I was just thinking of some 'unsweetened' tea. 

I had tried their beef and bacon burger before which was a little bit nicely because they would add some kind of caramelized onion or some relish to compliment with a stronger beef taste, but this piece of veal was just too bland for me. Sorry.

芝蔴包身甚厚亦見鬆綿。若然熱度可以提高些就定必更佳....

新分店的薯條,跟舊店的軟塌塌淰淰的質感沒有兩樣。跟我們平常吃慣的脆卜卜極香口的甚有出入,可以說是並不太合個人口味的....吃後很老實的跟負責人談過,他也說許多人客亦曾問過相類的問題,而他說這薯條是全然根據總店的recipe去做的....聽後小弟不禁暗忖 : "可能所謂的"French Fries"是這般的口感吧"。不過負責人強調若客人想要吃脆口的,他們亦非常樂意去做....

侍者推介的,屬薄荷石榴口味的lemonade,初呷時倒有些像在喝藥水似味怪怪的,但繼續喝將下去則有點像帶薄荷糖水的味道。至於有沒有石榴的香味呢,那倒屬見仁見智了....
