I didn’t realise that Bungalow served dinner (I’ve only been there at night when it transforms into a night club), so it was a very pleasant surprise when my friend recommended that we go last night.

We started the night off sharing the Steamed Mussels ($168) and they were perfectly cooked – totally packed and juicy! We used the bread to soak up all the sauce, and the staff were nice enough to give us extra bread so not a single drop of sauce was left behind!

Next came the Octopus ($148) and while I’m a huge fan of octopus, it’s always a bit of a hit-and-miss for me – it’s usually quite rubbery and chewy. So I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived and it was so tender and flavourful. The little cubes of chorizo tasted perfectly with the octopus.

I had the Grilled Pork Chop ($248) and my friend had the Smoked Duck Breast ($229). The Grilled Pork Chop was actually cooked to medium, which made the pork so much more flavourful and juicy than other you get in other restaurants. We were a bit surprised so asked the server is if was safe but they explained that as long as it’s high quality meat, you can treat pork the same way as beef.

We ordered a few sides as well, but our absolute favourite was the Truffled Mashed Potatoes ($88). It was so creamy and so packed with truffles that we would’ve gotten another order if we weren’t so full. Sadly, it doesn’t photograph very well, but don’t get the image fool you – we’ll come back just for this!

Sadly we didn’t leave enough room for dessert, but we will be back! The Pear and Almond Tart is calling my name…

Considering we ordered a feast, the bill came up to around $500 per person, which is very good value for the quality ingredients and atmosphere.

I love octopus so once I saw it on the menu I knew I had to order this! I was not sure how well the chef would cook this as many restaurants don't make this nicely but the octopus was cooked really well and you could taste the freshness. I was really happy! If you are a duck breast lover then this is a must order. It was so tender and juicy I wanted to order another one. The puree sauce fits really nicely with the dish. I would say this was my least favourite dish as I am not a big mussels fan as it can be quite fishy at times but this was beautifully presented and was quite good. The garlic and the bread added some taste to this dish. Yum!

At the end of the dinner it was of course time for dessert! We oredered the banana crepe as  I know you can't go wrong with a crepe! This definetly pleased my sweet tooth and it was just the right texture..not too cripsy and not too soggy. Simply delicious!

I'll be back to visit! Service was really great and the ambiance was relaxing!

I had the honor of tasting some of Bungalow's newest summer dishes that will be available as of June 1st. My favorites were:

Steamed Miyagi Mussels - This is a dish perfect for sharing! Miyagi mussels are naturally very sweet, and it is rare that restaurants import these mussels, making this dish truly unique in its own way. Mussels are steamed with garlic, shallots, white wine and lemon, and served with homemade fluffy brioche!

Smoked Duck Breast - Smoked in-house to perfection, this dish was very light despite it being duck! It is coated with a thin layer of brown butter pepper glaze, and served medium rare to medium depending on guests preference.

Slow Cooked Octopus - Tender, juicy slow cooked and charred octopus with Spanish chorizo - the flavors all melt together, and is truly unique! The spiciness from the chorizo, sweetness from the grapes, and faint smoke flavor from the octopus really blend well.

I have dined at Bungalow before, and some must try dishes that will stay on the summer menu are Brandade Aligot, Barley Salad, Grilled Pork Chops, and Sable Fish! My meals are usually around $400 per person, which is very well priced considering the high quality of seafood / meats used, and the chef's attention to detail for every ingredient. I almost forgot to mention - they have some delicious sides to accompany your meal, so you'll want to order a few of those as well.

Bungalow is the brainchild of the ever expanding PRIVE GROUP empire. Bungalow thrives late night at being on of the most popular nightclubs in LKF and during lunch, happy hour and dinner times- they serve some delicious French fine dining.
Lovely decor! Very different though…day to night! I went to a tasting and was soooooo happy with the food!! I will be back, I actually have been back many many times.. ;)

Creekstone Farms Ribeye. Look at this beauty. Take a look. Now, another one. This was absolutely perfect. It needed absolutely no sauces, juice, mustard…nothing! (It does come with it…) This ribeye was so beautifully grilled. Look at that gorgeous ruby pink colour. The ribeye was nice and lean. With just enough lean meat and a bit of fat! Wow. I polished off so many pieces and only wished I had a bigger stomach!! VERY NICE. The price is definitely a bit pricey- but its meant to be shared!

This was amazing! Perfectly seared, I managed to eat two even if I normally hate scallops. They were warm and texture was soft/tender not chewy. Well flavoured, somehow they were able to remove the taste of the sea and make it sweet through roasting. The local corn was such a great touch, and the sauce a good match.

This is new on the menu. It's made with REAL CREAM CHEESE but somehow they were able to keep the rich flavour but make it not so thick and heavy. How?!! Delicious!

Would I return?
50/50 as it's on the pricey side. The lunch menu is more reasonable at $258 for 2 courses and $298 for 3 courses.
