This was the first time I had been here. I was a bit skeptical at the beginning as I was never too keen restaurant within a department store (Lane Crawford in this case). I finally managed to book a table today. So right after I called up "The Box" (which I also had made a reservation as back up) to cancel my booking. But just when I hung up, the manager of Cafe Costa called and said they don't have a normal table anymore and has to put us at the Bar or outside at the balcony. I was really pissed as they should have told me when I made the reservation but kept the reservation anymway.
When we arrived there, they actually managed to give us a normal table. May be someone has cancelled so I was happy and all was forgotten.
The two of us both chose from the lunch special menu just because we can't be bothered to look at the A la Carte items as there are really choices. Surprising, as I thought restaurant cafes always only limited number of choices.
We both ended choosing the same things for starter and the main courses. The starters was beef cappacio, the beef was very fresh but a tastless. Ikept thinking it would be nicer if the chef had sprinkled a bit of lemon juice onto it. It could uplift the taste of the beef. That's a bit of a shame.
We chose salmon steak. Very fresh, I can't complain. I like the mandarin orange slides which really went well with the salmon. Very unique idea!
For dessert, my friend chose something like a chocolate mouse cake - a bit on the rich side, and the portion is huge. So my friend had a hard time finishing it. But it tasted very nice, just sinful.
I chose a coconut penna cotta. It was really good. The coconut taste was not too strong, just enough to give the penaa cotta a special character, making the usual or plain or vanilla penna cotta seem a bit boring in compari
