I am in the minority about this place.Heard it was the ‘best pizza’ in Hong Kong, and rated in the top 50 in Asia. Heard it was the ‘best pizza’ in Hong Kong, and rated in the top 50 in Asia. So a few months coming back from Florence, Italy (our second home) we decided to try this place out. I was expecting at least okay tasting pizza compared to what is found in Italy.
First I ordered a Negroni, very unexceptional. I’ve had better Negronis at the bars around the SoHo area during happy hour.
Ordered two pizzas. Forgot the name of the pizzas but they are in the pic along with the menu. I cannot express how disappointed and sad I felt after taking my first bite. Both pizzas were quite bland and tasteless. The local Pizza Hut in HK has better flavors(and I’m not a fan of Pizza Hut). I’m a sauce person so the sauce on a pizza needs to be on point. This was not, plus the sauce was on the sugary-sweet side which is the total opposite of how I prefer it (savory). Toppings were meh (for lack of a better description). The sausage was okay though.
The saving grace is the dough. That really is good, close to
perfection. Only a real pizza oven can make the dough/crust that good.
Honestly, I wish I could say this place was as good as everyone else’s reviews. Hong Kong needs more ‘good’ pizza places. Unfortunately I think this pizza place is mediocre at best.
