My husband and I are spending the send half of our honeymoon in Hong Kong. It’s my first time and his third time and definitely it out last time. We are from Los Angeles where there is so very many nice and unique restaurants but nothing as tasty as this experience.
We ordered the cauliflower starter ( cauliflowers being the only thing I dislike in food, and I literally fell in love)I’ve given cauliflower dishes many opportunities to wow me but nothing has convinced me that I enjoy cauliflower as much as this.
Next we had the dan dan noodles which were absolutely to die for. I have nothing else to add about this dish other then an absolute MUST TRY!!!!!!!!!
Finally we had the wagyu short rib which was mouth watering and delicious. I’m most as obsessed with short rib as my husband is but this has convinced me otherwise. I loved it so much we vowed to come back before we left. ...... and we did !!!! Our last dinner in HK was again at HO LEE FOOK. We ordered the same pretty much but added the dumplings and replaced the cauliflower with the show peas and broccoli which was also incredible. We are beyond baffled by the incredible composition of flavors the chef so carefully composes.
Also because we were on our honeymoon our amazing server SI gave us three complementary desserts and after all that food we still devoured those desserts because they were to die for!!!!! The French toast, the banana crisp bowl and the breakfast bowl!!!!!! FRIGGIN AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU ONLY EAT OUT ONCE IN HONG KONG THIE IS THE PLACRE TO GO!!!!!!
The service is insanely perfect, I’ve never had such incredible customer service experience in my whole life and YES we eat out a lot!!!!!!!!
I can’t even hype this place up enough because it’s sooo much more then anyone can expect!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SI AND SIWA FOR MAKING MY HONEYMOON!!!
These guys definitely deserve a raise and recognition for the excellent service and food !!!!!!!!

Wanting to sit for a bit to catch up with my friends and soon enough, another server SLAPPED the bill on our table again. Yea I get the idea. Won't be coming back here. Why the fook should I put up with this service!

As there is no reservation system, and there are plenty of empty tables for four, I frankly don't understand the reason we were put in that 2-person table. Although the staff mentioned all these without an arrogant manner, it left quite a bad taste in my mouth to begin with.

The decor is quite interesting with a lot of modern art featuring Chinese elements, but we found it was a bit too dark and noisy, with some loud music on the background. For these settings, maybe if the restaurant is positioned as a bar and tapas place it would be more appropriate.

For appetizers we had Smoked Soy Chicken Salad, Celery, Cloud Ear Mushroom with Lao Gan Ma Dressing. The smoked chicken was shredded nicely, and paired well with the dressing. There was plenty of spring onion added, as well as abundance of sesame sprinkled, to add to the fragrance of the dish. An interesting recipe with a nice taste, which fortunately helped me to re-focus back on the quality of the food.

The other appetizer we ordered was Mom's Mostly Cabbage, A Little Bit of Pork Dumplings, with Sacha Soy Dressing. The dumplings were quite nice too with a lot of fillings, and true to its name there was a good amount of cabbage versus pork, making it more healthy. There is a bit of red chili sprinkled on top which added some spicy taste, and with the coriander and sacha soy sauce additional flavor dimensions were present and it was also tasty.

For the main we had the Steamed Snapper, which was one of the chef's recommendations on the night. Surprisingly the fish was steamed perfectly, as one might think this contemporary restaurant would tend to overcook the fish as most 'western' Chinese restaurant would. The soy sauce was specially concocted with a degree of sweetness in addition to some tartness, making it highly refreshing and even my mother who is more traditional in taste, enjoyed it very much.

Then it was the Kurobuta Pork Char-Siu, and the staff asked us for the degree of 'fatness' we want. As what it should be, we opted for the half fatty half lean style, and you can appreciate the freshly roasted char-siu with a nice honey taste. There are a lot of sauces on the plate, which I think is a bit too much as it kind of soaked the char-siu. But still the taste is fairly good.

Finally we had the Prawn Fried Rice, with Chinese Kale, Bean Sprouts, and Salted Olive Leaf. The portion is reasonably large, with the rice nicely fried without feeling too oily. The rice also was not lumpy, with the good crunchy texture supplemented by the bean sprouts. My only comment was that the prawns were basically without any flavor, and only because we were looking at it otherwise the prawns were not apparent from a taste perspective.

Overall the taste for the dishes were quite good which is a pleasant surprise, though I don't have any comfort at all in the environment and making my whole dining experience essentially negative. I would say it is a restaurant tailored to foreigners only, and if under a better setting it could be a much better restaurant.

My overall rating is 45/100.

一行7人黎試中西Fusion,一早BOOK左枱,一黎到就有位坐,可惜因為比較難搵,有好多人遲到坐低睇到MENU都唔係話好多選擇。。。人齊後就選擇左幾款野~~~有D係佢個staff介紹既一開始黎既係  Wagyu Beef Tartare ,味道都OK,無想像中咁特別之後依個dumplings係佢介紹既,價錢唔平但份量唔係好夠,味道OK,有D over priced.之後黎左幾樣野,佢個roast platter係我地黎最想試既野,雖然要3百幾蚊,難得黎到一定要嗌~~~!係幾入味同埋佢個sauce都好正,如果黎就試下佢,好有fusion feel。佢大部分既菜式都好有"獲氣",食得出係有心思既安排。唔介意價錢既可以黎試下,同埋環境等等都唔錯,可以一班人黎gathering傾下計!一班女仔黎食飯,唔小得desserts!我地嗌哂佢最hit個3個,味道唔會太濃郁,又夠香!每款各有特色,有層次,原來依度最好食係甜品

Quite a unique modern take on Chinese cuisine. The outstanding must-have dishes include the succulent wagyu beef, pork dumplings, minced pork and lettuc wraps and the fried rice. The chef is quite talented and always consistent, but the service however was another story. The experience already started out on the wrong foot, with a request to pay a deposit in person 3 days before (for parties of 10 or more) and a 2-hour seating. Yes, these things may exist in other markets like New York, etc but

Quite a unique modern take on Chinese cuisine. The outstanding must-have dishes include the succulent wagyu beef, pork dumplings, minced pork and lettuc wraps and the fried rice. The chef is quite talented and always consistent, but the service however was another story. The experience already started out on the wrong foot, with a request to pay a deposit in person 3 days before (for parties of 10 or more) and a 2-hour seating. Yes, these things may exist in other markets like New York, etc but that doesn't mean you have to adopt that here. When we arrived, we were told to go to this holding area for diners which they call a "bar", complete with 2 chairs (one of which was taken away when another table needed it), and told to "hangout" there until our table was ready. This while music was blaring in all directions. Then all through the night, the wait staff just shoved food on our table when it was ready, and as more dishes piled up we were constantly visually reminded that we need to eat faster and watch our time. I would say that the best bet would be to order carry-out and enjoy the peace and quiet of your own home.
