This is my second visit because I love the spicy pork trotters.Ordered the trotters, rice and chicken momo.I would have ordered plain rice but I couldn't find plain rice on the menu because it would go better with the pork trotters. The pork trotters were as good as the first visit, they were soft and spicy. The momos were ok but the sauce was not spicy enough compared to other Nepalese places. The fried rice was quite nice with pieces of green peppers and onions but ideally I wanted plain rice wit

The staff was really nice because when he found that I was going to have the trotters with rice, he kept the trotters warm until the rice came.

Headed in here around 8 on a Wednesday night. Only people in here, which is a shame. On recommendation from the guy working there, we had the pork trotters ($78), potato achar ($74), and the thali plate with goat curry (normally lamb) ($108). Papadams came out first, with a tasty little onion and tomato relish. Trotters were next, spicy, tender, gelatinous skin, tasty meat. Great dish. Potatoes were a cold dish with peas, good but nothing amazing. Solid side dish. The thali was last, beautiful goat curry, soupy lentils, a green pea item, leafy greens, rice, pickle. All the food was good quality, homely. Service was attentive without being bothersome, even though we were the only 2 in the restaurant. I feel this place should have more people in it. The entry is directly to the left of the globe and up the stairs. For tasty affordable food in Soho, this place is hard to beat. All up including a glass of red wine and a beer for 2 people: $365.

The restaurant is a hidden gem, a bit difficult to find due to the scaffolding which should be gone in a few weeks or so.  It's not too large, approximate capacity would be around 30. Nicely decorated with pictures of Nepal around. They even had a yak skull - something I've encounter during my treks in some village in Nepal. They had wonderful Nepal music going on too - reminded me of my time in the country.   The menu has Nepali favourites but brother D and I went for the pork thali. We were pr

The menu has Nepali favourites but brother D and I went for the pork thali. We were presented with some papad and mix of some vegetables (forgot to take picture). This was then followed by a salad, the main and a dessert (meal also included a drink - we opted for a hot lemon tea to beat the cold weather).

Verdict: This is a very filling meal so come with a large appetite. If you cannot handle spicy food, be sure to let the people know as the relishes are quite spicy. The pork was tender but the king of the meal would be the little tomato relish - spicy and delicious, just the way we love it! The sorbet at the end was very refreshing and a great way to end the meal. Will definitely return to try their other dishes. Also, it is worth noting that they only accept cash for the moment.

Johnny Gurkha serves Nepalese fare which is rare in Hong Kong, in Central there was only one called Anna Pura.
There are two Nepalese restaurants in Wan Chai, one called 2stars and the other called Himalayan Restaurant.

I went for something different because I normally have momos for Nepalese fare.

This was pigs trotter served in tomato gravy, dried chilis and ginger.
Basically it is similar to the Chinese style trotters where they are braised in red beancurd sauce but the sauce here was more spicy and flavourful with hints of chili and ginger that make it moreish with rice.
I would have liked it if they served Indian rice instead of Chinese rice but definitely worth trying because the trotters are extremely soft and gelatinous with a spicy kick.
