We were searching for a kind of food we have not tried before, so we browsed on openrice and stombled upon the neat resturant.  First of all, great service!   The owner was very friendly and charming.  That night, we ordered the Roast Chicken and the Roast Pork with rice. 

The first one arrived is the Roast Pork with Rice, very tasty smell!  When we first tried, we found the meat has a funny testure, then we found out from the owner that it is actually pork jowl (cheeks).  It was actually pretty good, although it is kind of oily, it might be better if we have more people to share it with.  The Roast Chicken was very tasty and tender.  Complemented with a side of garlic rice, it was execellent.  Also, the owner offers free refill on white rice! 
The only "complain" I have is the beer selection... Seems they only have San Migual, Light and Red Horse.  It would be great if they also serve Gold Eagle or Cerveza Negra. 

I will definitely go try their Roast Pork Knuckle next time.  I do recommend this neat little resturant if you are looking for something different.

第一道上菜是我最期待的燒雞,果然沒有令我失望!
燒雞肉質超嫩滑,燒得剛剛好,不會過老,而且很入味,味道很好,雞亦不肥,沒有皮下脂肪。沾醬味道濃,很合喜歡重口味的我。美中不足是好友和openrice上評價不錯的garlic rice,當晚的garlic rice味道是不錯挺香的,但不知道是不是煮太久了,吃起上來太乾太硬。

第二道是燒豬手,這豬手真的好好吃!
上星期到過德國餐廳吃德國燒豬手,之前也到過德國餐廳吃過兩次德國燒豬手,老實說兩次都不好吃,都太乾身令豬皮和肉質都太乾,完全沒有肉汁,而且重點是很貴… 但Kawali的豬手真的好好味!燒豬手沒有燒過頭,豬皮仍然保持應有的油份和彈性,但表皮則是「卟卟脆」!內裡的肉仍然juicy!沾醬有3種,配搭起來都很好吃!

之後是這個椰汁熱炒,老闆向我們介紹時說這個是椰子炒菜之類的東西。初初以為是偏向清新口味的,但吃過後才發現這是比較重口味的,味道不錯,但其實沒有菜的,大多都是正花肉加一點青椒用大量椰汁熱炒,因為我們已經吃了燒雞和燒豬手,所以再吃這個真的有點膩。

上菜的次序有點奇怪,沙律到最後一道才上。這個沙律其實是某種不知名水果再澆上味道酸辣的醬汁。水果味道口感有點像馬蹄,可能吃不慣的關係,單吃水果味道清新,可以一解剛才吃太多肉的飽膩感,但醬汁感覺是熱菜的味道,配上水果有點怪。

看到鄰桌點了這個甜品,Halo halo,是菲律賓有名的甜品,雖然已經很飽,但另一個甜品胃已準備好了!有一點點失望,雪糕只是平價的三色雪糕,仲要係最不喜歡的朱古力雲呢拿士多啤梨三色,感覺即使用三色雪糕都好,用椰子芒果菠蘿的熱帶水果口味都比較配合,不過最好當然是用芋頭雪糕啦!芋頭味雪糕是我最愛!雖然雪糕失色,但黃色的甜蒸蛋和椰條都很好味,特別是甜蒸蛋,鬆軟甜甜的,like!

總括Kawali食物質素很不錯,老闆也超級nice,還道下次再來送我甜品,哈哈!!
咁著數,我實做回頭客!其實我平時都不太會在openrice寫袋評,但這餐廳有心做也有質素,所以都寫寫食評以作支持及介紹多點港人嚐嚐菲菜,東南亞菜以後不止星馬泰越了!

Drink我們叫了mango smoothie,份量足夠,味道剛好不會說太甜,不過如果冰能再打碎一點會更滑和更容易入口。

甜點我們叫了HALO HALO, 店員對於我們兩個女生吃得那麼多有點被震撼到了~哈哈
Halo Halo份量很大所以我們share著吃。不過和我們在菲律賓吃到的有點不一樣,沒有了標誌性的芋頭雪糕,改用了芒果雪糕,之後回看之前的食評得知了原因,希望老闆可以快快找到好吃的芋頭雪糕吧:)
但halo halo下面的果凍粒和水果還是不錯的。

整體來說Kawali的菜色味道好,份量和價錢也合理,環境也十分舒適(我們從7點吃到10點,聊著天聽著音樂很是休閒放鬆,所以我下次一定會再來!

Came back for more Filipino food because this place has unlimited rice refills.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★Sizzling sisig: Sisig is made from parts of the pig’s head and liver, usually seasoned with calamansi and chili peppers.Previously I tried this before at Quezon which was really oily, but the Sisig here is actually quite good.The pieces of pig's head are very gelatinous and sticky which is lovely with rice and it is very appetizing because there is lots of vinegar and calamansi seasoning.★☆★☆★☆★

Previously I tried this before at Quezon which was really oily, but the Sisig here is actually quite good.
The pieces of pig's head are very gelatinous and sticky which is lovely with rice and it is very appetizing because there is lots of vinegar and calamansi seasoning.

Chose the Adobo which I tried last time, it is chicken in a vinegary sauce.
The vinegar was quite strong but it made the chicken extremely appetizing and delicious with the rice.

菲式餐廳白飯當然是all you can eat!

飲品這次點了mango smoothies,用新鮮芒果打出來好解喝。好高興老闆都有聽之前的意見大杯番,唔洗就住就住咁飲,可以開開心心大啖咁飲!

友人點了生力啤,是菲律賓的入口啤酒,比香港的生力啤更香!一個少少意見,不妨多引入多一些菲律賓的特色啤酒或酒類,令選擇更加豐富!(例如其他品牌/生力啤在菲律賓有蘋果味/檸檬味)

最後埋單相信是老闆收了一個開心價,謝謝他的好意。

Kawali的確是一間很有心機的餐廳,而且招牌菜質素非常高,絕對符合香港人口味!

值得推介身邊多些朋友來試菜,畢竟菲律賓菜在香港絕不多,但原來可以咁好味。

下次希望能再試地道點的Bicol Express/Adobo/炸魚

Compared to my usual Flipino fare, the prices at this place are quite expensive.

In Wan Chai, there are now three places where you can get Flipino food.
Cinta J which is quite Chinese during lunch, while the new Cinta J Express was more authentic but only open during the evenings and Quezon which provides really cheap authentic Flipino food.

The decor of this place is green and vibrant.

On first sight, it looked quite Chinese, it had lots of cracked black pepper.
The vinegar was quite strong but it made the chicken extremely appetizing.

This is basically pork and offal cooked in spicy dark gravy of pig blood, garlic, chili, and vinegar.
There were pieces of beef stomach as well.
I really liked it and expected it to taste good, the porks blood was fresh and the sauce did not have a rancid smell or taste.
The pork in this dish was lean so there was not much oil compared to other Dinuguan dishes from other restaurants.

兩道主菜都好夠份量,而且餐廳貫徹菲律賓餐館模式,白飯是all you can eat免費的!你想吃幾多飯都得。不過,如果可以加少少錢任食Garlic Rice,我絕對願意的,因為Garlic Rice實在是太好味了。

另一樣奇怪的是餐廳是沒有drink menu的,所以我到埋單先知幾錢……Ordered了3杯芒果mango smoothies,一上檯覺得超細杯(得3/2杯滿),不過原來$14一杯,真係好抵飲。但感覺不太好,寧願大杯D收貴點感覺會開心些。

最後還點了個菲律賓著名甜品Halo Halo,都係menu無的更加無價錢($45)。因為menu無我一直估呢間餐廳究竟有無呢樣名菜呢?點知見隔離菲律賓食客有,所以好驚喜立即跟住order!整體都跟菲律賓的很相似,有齊蒸蛋、大樹菠蘿、蛋卷等,但最可惜的是用了芒果菠蘿Vanila三色雪糕取代招牌的芋頭雪糕,美中不足。這點我都有跟太子爺反應,也認同他說香港很難找到好味的香芋雪糕。

整體絕對覺得呢間餐廳充滿誠意和心機經營
,而且味道都好好,絕對會帶朋友來光顧,KEEP IT UP!唯一改善空間是餐牌要eater-friendly點,和drink及dessert價錢都要清楚標示一點。
