Tried la Camionetta for the first time a week ago. First of all the staff is very friendly, mainly French and not Italian as I thought ... the pizza is really like we find it in Europe, their 5 Cheese pizza is really great, I recommend. Casual place in a busy area of HK on weekend nights. Will go back for sure! 👍

I was here last Friday night with my boyfriend and we were recommended to come here for their pizza. We walked in and ask one of the staff how long is the waiting time if we just walk in. He just said "I don't know" rather than checking the tables and giving us an approximate time. It was horrible. If a customer comes in hoping to try out your food, you can't just reject with an "I don't know". I believe the food here is good but there is room for improvement of attitude.

Summary: 2020 has been a nightmare, but at least we get another good pizza place in Central. Great crust and delicious, generous toppings make a terrific pizza, even if La Camionetta's tomato sauce is oddly thick and they overdo it with herbs. As you can see, the pizzas are very reasonable, with the most expensive pie at HKD 178 and most below HKD 140. Drinks are also decently priced

We tried the quattro stagioni pie, and loved the quality ingredients they add in abundance, especially those tasty Italian olives.

The crust is terrific for me, soft and doughy inside, but still crisp enough to support the pie when you pick it up. Because of how generous the toppings are, it doesn't hold up long, but that's a good problem to have. The flavors are nicely balanced, without overdoing the cheese or tomato. A great pie.

I did have one comment for them - there seems to be tiny specks of stuff in every bite you take. In the picture below i tried to show it - they sprinkle an herb mix of, i suppose, oregano, rosemary, basil and others all over the pie. This is usually a great thing (i love oregano on pizza), but its overdone,  messing up the texture of the pizza by adding distracting grit to every bite. Adding to this is their choice to use a chunky tomato paste (pic in the insert), rather than a smooth sauce; it's still tasty, but the texture adds to all the small bits on the pizza. I'd recommend they serve the herbs on the side, or at least remove the tougher herbs from the mix like rosemary.

One more needed shout-out is for their incredible homemade garlic/rosemary/bay leaf infused olive oil. I usually dip good pizza crust with EV olive oil, but this is the best version of infused olive oil I can remember. My friend liked it so much she directly drizzled (read: poured) it over the cheese. Make sure you say yes when they offer this, and if they don't, request it!

Overall, I spent some time being nitpickey above, but the bottom line is that La Camionetta makes fantastic pies for great prices. I love that they are so food-focused, rather than emulating the places that pass for restaurants in that area, i.e. shisha and ambiance (or what passes for it) first and only. I look forward to seeing their full opening menu, and i recommend you try it - just don't go with big groups and ask for that extra olive oil!

Proud to add it to my favorite pizza in HK list (in no order)

- Motorino's
- Ciao Chow
- Babacio
- Jacomax (Sheung Wan)
- La Camionetta

Went there with my best friend to cure Saturday pizza crave.

First of all, let’s talk about the decoration. The one thing which stood out for us was the La Camionetta, aka, The Truck. The VW truck facade was cleverly implemented into the bar counter which created an iconic personality for the restaurant. Natural, cozy, warm and friendly decorated space with double ceiling height matched the passionate personality of the Italian/ French couple owners who radiated sunshine all day.

We have ordered 2 take away pizzas which were La Fantastica and La Quattro Stagioni.

As it’s name, La Fantastica can easily be everyone’s favorite. The generously placed topping ( Parma ham, Rocket Salad, Fior di Latte, etc.) balanced out with the not-so-sour Tomato Sauce and Balsamic Glaze perfectly, nothing is better than a freshly baked pizza for a Netflix and Chill Night with your best friends!

Then, the La Quattro Stagioni. Same as the La Fantastica, it’s freshly baked. ( yes, they make and bake every pizza fresh, so you need to wait for your take away ) This was one of the recommended pizzas from the owner it’s totally worth it! I love how the taste of Herbed cooked Ham, Artichoke, Mushroom and Taggiasche Olives blended together. And that was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Chatted with the owner while waiting she said that they are so picky when it comes to the ingredients. Even the flour for the dough, it has to be the exact type of flour comes from Italy/ France so it can have the perfect texture and chewiness and not too grainy.

The owner also gifted us a jar of Tiramisu which was made with her mom’s recipe from Italy. It’s the best Tiramisu I have every had, the moisture and sweetness were not over-done so that it’s firm and not being too mooshy. When you opened the lid of the jar, the scent of coffee just waken you up right away!

By the way, you need to order that in advance as they said if you walk in, there will only be a few left or even sold out by 5/6pm. So if you want to secure your favorite ones then you’d better order that through WhatsApp or call them.
