I always wanted to try the matcha desserts here but couldn't be bothered to go all the way to Diamond Hill. Now, there is a branch in Causeway Bay, so I decided to try it out. However, I came here for lunch instead and didn't order dessert because I didn't know they also served regular food.Located next to Sogo, you have to walk down the stairs. The lunch menu was under $100. It included a drink. Upgrades are available. I ended up ordering the teriyaki chicken with onsen egg rice bowl and an ice matcha tea ($64). The ice matcha tea tasted pretty much like green tea powder in cold water. It wasn't very good. It also got more and more diluted as the ice melted throughout my meal. Teriyaki chicken with onsen egg rice bowl was actually fairly large. I had a lot of rice and couldn't finish it. It was odd they also put the salad with vinaigrette with the rice bowl. I guess it shouldn't really matter as everything gets tossed in your stomach anyways in one big mess, but to me ... at least put salad in one bowl and rice in another? The teriyaki chicken was tough and dry. The sauce was so sweet, you could probably get cavities from it. The set came with a soup which was watered down lettuce and water. It as just horrible. I think I had better msg laced soup from a cha chan teng. Food wasn't good. Perhaps I may return to try the dessert as that is what they are more known for? But for now, I won't come back for the savory dishes.
