As boyfriend and I were exploring Hung Hom for things to eat, we found this place called Magic Chicken Pie. The name stopped us in our tracks and we decided to find out what they served.A very small shop geared for take away, they serve fried chicken.The menu is in English and Chinese. You order by choosing how the chicken is marinaded in (spicy or five spice powder), what coating you want on your chicken, the type of seasoning they will toss onto the chicken. This is what we ended up choosing. A five spice, Dorito fried chicken with cumin seasoning. First things first. This was one big piece of fried chicken. It was also piping hot as everything was made to order. We waited a good 10 minutes for them to make this. But it was incredible. Possibly the best fried chicken on the street I've ever had. The meat was moist and juicy. The coating, not too thick yet flavorful. There was also a bone in it so I suspect it was a thigh?
They do sell other items other than fried chicken. Those items seemed to all revolve around being fried. Like fried brownie??? This is definitely for those that love fried items. We didn't try any of them but we may next time around.
They also sell drinks and we ordered something called a lemon cola smoothie. Um .. skip on the drinks. It wasn't good at all. Get your drink around the corner at another take away stand.
Definitely be back for the fried chicken and possibly try another item from their fried food menu. I should note the Taiwanese owner speaks Mandarin and no Cantonese. Other staff speak Cantonese.
