Minestrone嚴格來講是含有義大利麵的蔬菜濃湯,但現在創意潮流年代,也很少有餐廳照本宣科地來製作菜單,是為“用其名”而已。湯的味道有點像俄羅斯羅宋湯,也許因為都是那麼些蔬菜熬成的關係,偏鹹,配湯的麵包也不特別,馬馬虎虎吧。

魚餅本來就不會用太好太新鮮的魚來製作。但這個魚餅裡面煎得太熟了,因為掺雜的粉很多,煎的時間短了粉就不夠熟,所以看魚餅外部色澤金黃本該是剛好的,內裡則是顆粒狀的口感很重,明顯是“柴”(廣東人對魚肉做老了時的口感的形容詞)的感覺。塔塔醬是傳統的味道,只是看著多了點淡黃色,不像是以往吃的純白色帶點綠色顆粒的那種,味道也沒那麼酸,吃不出加了甚麼。伴碟的salad倒是很新鮮,還有Gobay最愛吃的Arugula火箭菜。
(Bite) woah, can this get even drier? Too much flour was added to the mixture of salmon bits and herbs, the texture was relatively dry even though the exterior was pan-fried till golden.
頭盤和主菜間隔還是久了些,在較好的餐廳我們還是會希望上菜的時間能配合得好一些:

配菜是炒大蔥/甜蔥,我們都覺得很油,而切成片的薯仔完全沒有味道,就算豬肉有醬汁可以用來蘸著吃,Gobay 覺得配菜都是要放點點鹽,至少!要是Gordon Ramsey評的話,估計會說“Absolutely lack of seasonings, totally bland” 。豬扒口感很老,蘑菇醬也不可口。
Totally bland was the right choice of words to describe this pork scaloppini, the chef must have lacked passion in cooking long time ago, even my mom can cook better pork chop than this. Side dish of stir-fried green and sweet onions tasted alright yet the overdose of olive oil brought this whole dish from below average to living hell. You wouldn't be able to finish the dry pork with extremely oily veggie.

香煎鱈魚配甜蔥和薯仔,西紅花奶油汁。我們入口第一反應就是“柴”──廣東人形容魚做老了或口感韌了就是用這個字,大概是因為柴魚(類似日本的鰹魚節,同樣是魚乾,但處理工藝大不同)也是這種口感,沒吃過的可以到普通一間粥店叫一碗柴魚花生粥試試就知道了。但是當一道新鮮的煎魚扒也給人魚乾一般的口感時,我們都無語了。 Carly說這裡就是一家貴價茶餐廳,嘻嘻。
The Cod fillet was relatively better than the pork scaloppini but the fish was cooked till it turned dry. Okay, I am done. Let’s quickly hope that the desserts will save us from this over-priced experience.
最後是甜品,我們都急切需要一些“refreshment”寬慰一下我們的舌頭,然而還是不得滿意。

Carly覺得這個太甜了,Gobay覺得甜度上還好,因為是芒果的自然甜度。主要是因為前面的食物「刺激」下,如今有新鮮水果,舌頭可能是被騙了,呵呵呵!

Crumble部份是焗得挺酥鬆的,Gobay覺得份量少得可憐,而且整個架構太散,不過蘋果焗得還可以。
Apple crumble portion was too tiny to enjoy the taste of it, you can finish it in 4 spoons. If the restaurant is aiming to impress customers with a full set of culinary experience, it is recommended to just cut out the mediocre desserts and offer better main dishes so that overall quality will be improved before anyone comes in and spend their HKD 150 with Oolaa Petite.
整體感覺是午市套餐這裡不值得一試,價格貴而且味道不怎麼好。但是這裡的晚餐不知道味道會否勝一籌,而且Happy Hour在這裡的氣氛應該挺好的。

Scaloppini:
義大利菜的詞彙scaloppine的英語寫法,指把肉切得很薄然後裹上麵漿煎食。
Ragoût:
原法國菜的詞彙,原指把肉、魚和蔬菜切成塊粒一起燉煮。肉類,魚類和蔬菜類的ragoût做法都不同,但基本有兩類:白和棕。顧名思義,「白」就是一開始煮那塊肉的時候,把它煮到肉質結實但顏色不弄;「棕」就類似廣東人的燜牛腩,會放佐料使得那個「stew」一開始就變棕色。這裡的leek & potato ragoût指的應該是ragoût第三層涵義──a plain or mixed garnish, 指西餐裡主菜的伴碟配菜, 加上棕色汁(或白色汁),這裡的則棕色蘑菇醬。
Marsala sauce:
提到Marsala, Gobay禁不住笑了出來──『這就等於廣東人的九江雙蒸或者是大陸的黃酒啊!』,因為它被廣泛地用在義大利家庭的烹調之餘,還可以直接飲用。Marsala葡萄酒年輕人可能不熟悉,因為很少喝這類“老酒”,它原產自義大利西西里島,和葡萄牙的Port、西班牙的Jerez(Sherry),還有以前香港人最喜愛的干邑品牌「馬爹利(Martell) 」在廣東話發音很近似經常被人弄混的葡萄牙的Madeira是很相似的酒。而Marsala醬就是義大利菜的經典醬汁,無非就是洋蔥、蘑菇、各類香草和肉汁加入Marsala酒一起煮到濃稠的程度,配肉類料理一起吃。

The new location is much bigger than the previous! Always a great lunch and breakfast place for family. Taste great with gooood portion. Staffs are friendly. Great Sunday morning breakfast choice! Breakfast burrito is always a good pick! Every bite filled with eggs, bacon, and mushrooms! Can skip lunch after this dish! Taste great and filling!Breakfast pizza is also one of my favorites! Met an old buddy for lunch, decided to try some of the restaurants in Wan Chai next to Pacific Place Three.  Stumbled upon Oolaa Petite, oops..... must not have being lucky, the food was definately forgetful.


The signboard had several interesting items out front, the place looked inviting and clean, so why not?  I'll just review my lunch and not my buddy's, I'll explain later.  I had the "Roasted Rosemary Spring Chicken", along with the "Vegetable Fritata" as a starter, and the "Mixed Berries Crepes" for dessert.

Let's start with the starter, the dish had a nice name to it "Vegitable Fritata", well it looks and tasted like bland Quiche.


Next, the "Roasted Rosemary Spring Chicken".  Yikes, it looked nice, but the meat was dry and it was somewhat on the cold side.  Once you carve it to the bone, you start to see what looks like juices flowing, what a letdown, it was from the moisture one would find after recently defrosting meat from the freezer. 


Last but not least, the dessert "Mixed Berries Crepes".  That must of been a joke, one bite sized crepes squirted with whipped cream with one piece of banana and 1 rotted blueberry.  Need no further description.


OK, I'll explain why no review and pics of my buddy's lunch.  His "Thai Beef Salad", well the beef must have been really chewy (he spitted it out).  His Lamb dish (I believe it was Lamb Lasagne) was only 50% eaten.  My poor buddy, he was left hungry because his order must have been worse than mine.

OK, I think everything was prepared way beforehand, we got there at 12:30 before the 1:00 office crowded, we had our food served within 2 minutes, WTH......  Oh well, the service at least was friendly and efficient.

If you pass by Star Street and you haven't noticed the new dining scene there, you're not looking close enough. It has been a delightful transformation at Star Street recently, turning old garages into hip and modern restaurants one by one. One of these restaurants is Oolaa Petite run by Castelo Concepts.

We went there for C's birthday dinner with Homa, Tee, Lesibian, and her boyfriend Martin. Oolaa Petite is a sister restaurant of Oolaa which is located in Sheung Wan. The restaurant comprises of a little outdoor area with high tables and an indoor area with large couches. Though the atmosphere was perfectly quiet and peaceful, whether it was intentional or not, we found that the uncomfortably dim and dark lighting to be more appropriate for couples to come here on dates.

Unfortunately, the lack of lighting is just one of the cogs that evening. We might have been inquisitive with the sporadic menu which featured Italian cuisine, including pizza, pasta, risotto and various kinds of meats. Be aware of the portion, as the dishes were quite "petite" and they might not be as satisfying as they seemed. Dinner is priced at around $200 to $300 per head. One bonus point is that Oolaa Petite does not impose a surcharge for outside cakes.

(1) Martin ordered the Toasted Pita Dips ($90) with beetroot feta, tzatziki, hummus and chili tomato & capsicum as starter. While the pita was expectantly soft and warm, the dips were quite nice providing a delicate and fresh flavour to the dish. This was a nice starter to share.

(2) We didn't adore the look of the Margarita Pizza ($110) at first but we were surprised by the fluffy and airy texture which proved to be both chewy and delicious at the same time. But we were hoping for a more fabulous taste of meatball and tomato sauce and it felt ultimately short of that.

We are mixed about Oolaa Petite as its dishes could certainly be fine-tuned and we wondered whether the portions really justify the price. But to its credit, Oolaa Petite is both unflappably casual and elegant and is definitely a welcomed addition to Star Street. It's a pity that their dishes can't, or ironically do, live up to its name.

One of my favorite breaky is eggs benedict, so far the ones i have tried in HK are quite OK...bak to Oolaa, the place is nicely decorated. didn’t even think twice before ordering the egg and ham benedict, plus my hazelnut latte as usual..when the dish came, the presentation was ok... just that the side dish was 2 tiny tomato... oh well... no even a salad for a 100bucks meal... oooookie....When i tried the egg benedict i was utterly disappointed. When i tried the egg benedict i was utterly disappointed. I found the baby spinach was COOKED?!?!?!?! i have been eating this dish for 10 yrs but never once any restaurant serve cooked (basically boiled) spinach... perhaps some do but really this is too new for me...
The cooked spinach basically spoiled the dish, made the bread soggy plus insufficient benedict sauce is... i can barely taste the benedict sauce...
i read the menu again it just said serve with baby spinach but didn’t say is cooked or not...
Finally i had to put the spinach on the side as it just too fusion... i feel like i was eating English muffin with vege dumpling fillings... >w<

The problem with this restaurant is their service. My issue came when I order a 70 HK dollar strawberry smoothie, and I especially asked them not put any sugar in. I had been here before once and ordered the same thing without sugar. I knew how it tasted. So the waiter, who was quite friendly, came back with a smoothie that was sweet. I had one sip and knew they forgot. I thought this was a quite reputed restaurant in Star street, not cheap, comes with service charge, so I should be able to tell them they forgot my request. I told the waiter and he came back saying they didn't put any sugar in. I said I had been here before with the same request and it wasn't right. He said he would ask people in the kitchen. Another guy came back, with very angry tone and face, interrogating me why there was sugar in. I was literally angry too. I was the customer and a pretty good cook, and if I want really good food, I didn't have to come here to endure their typical HK anger.

I told him, I knew there was sugar because it tasted SWEET.
He said, there isn't sugar, but just strawberry puree, which has sugar in it.

I said, I told you no sugar and if there's sugar in the puree, just take it out!!!
He said, you sure, with very angry tone and extremely unfriendly attitude.

I am usually someone who doesn't complain if the food is cheap, but 70 for a smoothies is definitely a restaurant price and I have the right to tell them what I want or not. Especially I already told them before I ordered.

I never came back to the restaurant even though we live so close by.

Going to a good restauant should be a happy experience. This one tries to create that kind of high-end restaurant aura , but it's service was really really really bad. Even if the staff was angry, why take it out on the customers?

I would never wanna go back because I didn't want to be interrogated with what I want or not.

以前住星街的時候經常看到Oolaa的名字,但一路都沒機會幫襯,今日開完會時路過見到又有一間在永豐街時,決定入去幫襯。我們兩個人叫了一碟steak sandwich和一碟calamari。因知道這類餐廳的咖啡水準不高,所以只叫了兩柸冰水喝。不消十分鐘,兩個order一齊到。我記得原先個侍應特地問我我的牛排要多少成熟,但看來他們能做的只有全熟和全生,我要的七成牛排一點紅色也沒有。味道方面,牛排是淡淡的。calamari的醬汁也很平淡,一點鮮味也沒有。

兩個人就這樣吃著吃著, 說說惱人事, 人生事, 位置很好坐, 外面陽光滲入, 而且當天天氣不錯, 很容易消磨一個下午 ~ 亦來到甜品時間!

它沒有甜品menu , 只有數款是日甜品, 我們隨意的點了心太軟, 跟平常不同的是, 它外層有層光澤, 吃下去滑滑的, 內裏軟心暖暖, 配上雲尼那雪糕, 還有少許 crumble , strawberry 亦切得很有心思, 這味甜品實在做得很有誠意~ $ 85一個甜品不算太便宜, 但品質屬佳, 所以也叫做 ok 啦 !

十二月上旬‧陰天因為這裡近公司,也因為這裡有咖啡喝,當然最重要的是因為這裡好坐,所以最近真的來了不少次。要了杯Flat White,這裡的沖得不錯,奶幾香而且咖啡味道都濃郁。應該都會密密來。

跟中環Oolaa屬同一集團Castelo Concepts的Oolaa Petite,位於灣仔的星街,沿樓梯走上來不久便來到。餐廳大門打開,門前放了數張桌椅,客人可坐在這裡喝咖啡或吃甜點,感覺較為輕鬆。若喜愛舒適點,可選擇到店內位置就坐,而餐廳也供應蛋款食物,由前菜沙律,主菜飯麵扒類也有,也有些輕便的三文治、蛋批及蛋糕。這天下午茶時份經過這裡,就來吃些甜點。蛋糕款式不多,就算了兩款,一是Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Heaven,$30,長條狀的朱古力蛋糕面上是一片濃郁的朱古力,入口便融化於口,其下的是榛子及朱古力慕絲,質感挺實卻幼滑,味道香甜,配合底部的脆脆的朱古力餅底,口感豐富,令人感到滿足。另一款選了撻類的蛋糕,有蘋果及藍莓兩款味道選擇,就選了Blueberry Tart,$30。薄身的撻底口感微脆,但牛油味道不夠香,內裡注滿藍莓果醬,質感較為稀稠,但味道不太酸亦不太甜,藍莓味道也都自然。兩款甜品比較的話,朱古力的那款較好吃,若來到這裡想找個地方坐坐,也可來這裡,環境較為寧靜,喝杯茶或咖啡,閒著過也挺不錯。

Here for very early dinner with kids, so 5 of us in all. Not busy, quickly seated. Pleasant surroundings, and they quickly turned down the ridiculous and irritating music when asked.

Food. We ordered a variety of dishes to share. Linguine vongole was good. Fresh, perfectly cooked, well seasoned and flavoursome sauce. One of the better ones we have had in hk. Spag bolognese advertised with wagyu beef, I guess to justify a nice big price for them. This was disappointing, too much meat, sloppily presented, a bit overcooked. They would be well advised to get the cooking right before wasting money on wagyu. A salad was fresh, if small. For the kids, they loved the chicken quesidillas, and we had a pretty nice selection of cakes and dessert and decent if not great coffee. So overall food was ok, with some misses.

Service was an issue. It wasn't busy but we had to work hard to flag down staff when we needed. Mistakes were made, table not cleared etc. Manager needs to be more in control here, assign waiters to tables, make people take responsibility, its called service, so serve. The two managers seemed busy on computers, not managing. If you must do the accounts or play angry birds, do it when the restaurant is shut.

Happy enough to come again if i'm passing, but would not make a special trip.
