大碗生牛肉湯河就只得幾片鵝蒂、洋蔥圈及青蔥,湯底夠熱,喝起來燙口的,好,色濁只得薄薄牛臊味,洋蔥的甜味欠奉,不要說與當地錦麗比較,就連本地越旺水準亦比不上;河粉是薄而幼身鮮河粉,機切的,吃起來滑而軟熟,較乾麵條更對口味,至於大配角生牛肉,是軟熟無渣的肥牛,對泊來貨雖毫無好感,但食米知價,優質黃牛肉索價不菲,這裡牛肉收貨了。

星期五預約了晚上七時半和老公一起來用膳,原來這兒的店面頗為狹小,只有約廿來個坐位,而內裡裝修看來亦頗為粗疏,幸好店內掃上了米白色的牆身,令室內望落去還算光亮潔淨,加上天花配有兩盞三角形紙罩吊燈作點綴,安坐其中,居然有著絲絲優閒雅緻之感。

由於吃的是團購套餐,所以亦無需特別點菜,先上的頭盤小食,每人一客,內裡已包蒸粉卷春卷 2 條。記得購買時,網站資料列出這小食還有 3 串 沙嗲串(豬/雞)可供選擇,但這晚餐牌內沒有沙嗲串提供。唉,算了吧,團購餐一向都是將貨就價,開賣時就天花龍鳳,到兌現時就樣樣欠奉。至於這件越式蒸粉卷,上面的饀料雖然稱不上豐富,但肉碎、菇粒、甘筍絲、炸蒜粒等吃來亦算香口,加上薄薄的粉皮,做得又白又嫩滑,很不錯。至於春卷,外表看來炸得夠曬金黃,而且內裡的粉絲、札肉、木耳等味道亦唔差,可惜這條油光滿面的春卷,外皮咬落略嫌過份韌脆,所以縱然其外形小巧若此,筆者亦蜻蜓點水式只吃了一件。

沙律方面,由於只得雞蛋素菜柚子蝦可供選擇,就每樣點了一款。雞蛋素菜沙律,內裡材料包括椰菜、甘筍、蛋絲、雞絲等,吃來一點也不油膩,加上椰菜夠曬清甜爽脆,頂頭的花生碎粒又香脆可口,整體味道確實調校得十分不俗。至於另一款柚子蝦沙律,內裡放了三、數隻開邊蝦,可惜蝦肉入口淡而無味,既不爽口亦不彈牙、柚子酸得來又帶點苦、而生菜味道又有點澀,所以水準只屬一般。

湯粉方面,原本團購網是列出可於生熟牛河、鮮茄牛腩河、雞絲河、乾撈檬粉 (可選牛肉、扎肉、豬扒、春卷) 中任擇其一,不過這晚撈檬失了踪影,所以兩口子就選了生熟牛肉河鮮茄牛腩河各一。未上湯河前,侍者先放上一小籃用來提升河粉香味的金不換及青檸,供客人隨意添加。講真其實這兒的湯河又真係大得有點嚇人,除非十分之饑餓,恐怕以我一人的力量,肯定無法清掉那麼巨型的一碗河粉,幸好有食力非凡的老公在旁,就無有怕了。先講講個生熟牛肉河,據說這個河粉的湯膽是用上三十斤牛骨、坑腩、香料等熬上十小時而成的。看看湯頭,色澤不算深,呷上一口,沒有那份羶香濃郁的牛肉味,尤幸湯底入口不覺膩滯,配菜的洋蔥又夠爽口,河粉又夠滑溜,味道都算唔錯。至於那幾片美國三角肥牛,分量亦下得夠曬慷慨,不過就稍嫌牛肉燙得有點過熟,吃來較嚡口,欠了應有的嫩滑口感。

反而另一碗鮮茄牛腩河更得我心,雖然它的面頭沒有大量番茄蓉覆蓋,但入口番茄味酸香濃郁,味道天然,相信是以鮮番茄加牛骨熬成的,確實非常美味,唔怪得老公話這碗粉的湯底真不可以貌相喇。至於那些炆得又腍又軟熟的牛腩,分量著實多得有點驚人,而且啲牛腩有咬口得來又沒有渣,再配上既薄滑又極吸湯汁的河粉,真的令人十分回味。

甜品環節,在團購網內同樣列出可於荔枝奶凍、香蕉批、焦糖燉蛋配雪糕、杏仁芭菲四款中任選其一,可惜這晚香蕉批已於名單中剔除,而焦糖燉蛋又無雪糕奉送,真令人氣煞。老公揀的焦糖燉蛋送上檯時,簡直令人嚇了一跳,唔係吖嗎?難道面頭放一小羹啡色物體就是焦糖蛋了?究竟有沒有焗過呀?求其成咁都得?和我開玩笑嗎?就當這是普通燉蛋吃,先舀一小匙放入口,又硬又實,蛋漿連丁點兒甜味、蛋味也沒有,莫講話焦糖,就算與普通燉蛋的水準還相差十萬八千里啊,這怎能奉客呀?

至於我選的杏仁芭菲,同樣教人失望透頂,那一球似雪糕又非雪糕的物體,入口有點像吃沙冰,不過又唔夠沙冰甜美,味道偏淡,質感又唔夠雪糕滑溜,而且其冰感度極低,温温吞吞,就算面頭放上杏仁碎都唔可以起死回生啦,簡直是失敗之作。反而旁邊那一撮綠色的龍鬚糖,甜甜的,軟軟的,入口有點像綿花糖,更為好吃。其實如果店家沒有一個見得吓人的甜品師傅,我倒建議店方不如取消所有套餐內的甜點項目,總好過現在落得臨尾香的下場。

至於跟餐的熱檸茶,味道苦苦澀澀,本來不甚討好,不過未知是否剛吃了兩款超級不濟的甜品,喝點熱檸茶來洗刷口腔內那一股不知所謂、似甜非甜的味道,反而又唔錯喎。

由於使用團購券是要另付原價的加一服務費即 $24,所以這餐計落合共 $140。 心想,這份套餐的食物質素如此參差,加上有好幾項食品,在選擇上與網站訂明有所出入,所以權衡這份餐是否值得,真是見人見智,我只可說河粉不妨一試,至於甜品,最好敬而遠之。另外我發現原來這裡逢星期一至五是有個 $158 的二人套餐供應的,只是不包飲品,不過食品種類大致上與團購餐相若,如果加上熱飲連加一,相信兩人埋單約需 $180 至 $190 左右,比起團購券只是貴咗幾十塊錢,故團購網宣傳這份餐原值 $128, 確是有點誇大了。

跟朋友去完附近整餅, 不覺已經 10 點鐘了, 也得吃點晚飯, 但畢竟時候不早, 行到去達磨都不想入去吃重型拉麵, 於是走多幾步, 見到這裡有越南店子, 便入去吃了。我們提著一個大蛋糕, 店員見狀即提議我們給他放到店裡的雪櫃暫存 (果然經驗老到呀)。快快拿了餐牌點菜, 我沒什麼考慮, 基本上見到餐牌上有類似檬要的物體便會吃; 所以就點了蕃茄蟹肉湯檬 (好像是 $45)。另友點的是雞絲湯檬, 加杯凍檸茶。檯上的一堆越南香草其實沒怎麼碰, 因為我的蕃茄湯檬已經幾濃味 (係蕃茄味不算很勁), 蟹肉也算不少, 粉也大碗, 但比較腍 - 可能跟上堂的時候試吃了蛋糕有關, 還加了大量蕃茄和洋蔥, 而且好像沒有下太多豬肉 (一般檬要會下些豬肉碎), 感覺健康。友人那份就沒有試味了。坐近門口, (當時) 風涼水冷, 幾好 feel 的, 店內較入的位置就一般啦。

快快拿了餐牌點菜, 我沒什麼考慮, 基本上見到餐牌上有類似檬要的物體便會吃; 所以就點了蕃茄蟹肉湯檬 (好像是 $45)。另友點的是雞絲湯檬, 加杯凍檸茶。

檯上的一堆越南香草其實沒怎麼碰, 因為我的蕃茄湯檬已經幾濃味 (係蕃茄味不算很勁), 蟹肉也算不少, 粉也大碗, 但比較腍 - 可能跟上堂的時候試吃了蛋糕有關, 還加了大量蕃茄和洋蔥, 而且好像沒有下太多豬肉 (一般檬要會下些豬肉碎), 感覺健康。

I wanted the fried chicken with tomato rice, however, they didn’t have that on the menu. I am beginning to think that it might just be a Sydney thing. I ordered the next best thing, pork chop with rice. The pork was deep fried, although thin, it was certainly tender, succulent and absolutely tasty. It was served with kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) and chili and scallion oil which was a great compliment. I thought the serving was a little small though – 2 tiny pieces of pork chop?

吃過了普通的頭盤,之後就來個馬拉盞炒通菜,都真的有馬拉盞味,當中有着不錯的蝦糕味,通菜又夠爽夠嫩,但個人就總是覺得個汁醬有點假甜,味道總是怪怪的;此店的乳鴿的好處是夠細隻,真真正正是乳鴿也,部份的骨可以完全吞下,而且乳鴿先滷後炸,雖個人認為味道方面可以再強一點,但其實已是不錯,尤其是薄肉點的部位,味道就夠呢,但如果隻乳鴿可以再熱一點,再脆一點,相信吃起來一定更惹味香口。

本來餐內包的是兩款湯河,可是本人又想吃撈檬,皆因今天又真的很熱,在店家允許的情況之下,點了一個豬扒撈檬,吃撈檬,首重都是有好吃的魚露才好吃,而在之前也說過此處的魚露不濟,但用它來伴撈檬吃,本人在此也要再三修正其看法,就是連丁點鹹香也沒有,真的是近來吃過最差的魚露,加上檬粉腍而散,是灼得過久之故嗎?整碗粉要慶幸的是,那塊豬扒就真的夠肥美,雖然味道又比較港式,沒什麼香料味,但已經算可以用它來挺過半碗粉。

之後就是令人期待的生牛肉河,吃這牛河本人最為看得重的是個湯,喝下一口,湯頭夠熱又夠甜,但是是那種勁不天然的甜,沒有一份牛骨清濃鮮香,幸而牛肉不錯,夠生又夠嫩,而跟來的配料都是非常認真,芽菜、青檸及金不換三款都夠鮮,份量也夠多,有了青檸及金不換,個湯假甜得來有點天然吧,至於個河粉,都幾夠薄入口又順滑,總體來說是要比個撈檬好的了。

之後就來甜品了,先談荔枝奶凍,吃奶凍首重就是夠滑,但是日的就偏偏不太滑,更有點腍散的口感,有點像凝固了的奶糊,但奶味足也一杯中有不少荔枝,隱隱中都滲出一點荔枝味,可是吃到底被我們見到店家原來送多條頭髮俾我們。

另外的法式焦糖燉蛋也好不了到哪裡,燉蛋表層的焦糖層其厚其硬,上層的燉蛋正常有點甜有點蛋味,腍腍滑滑的,可是底層的是完全的凝固不了,怕吃壞肚子着店員有沒有別的,店員主動有禮的說可以換一個杏仁巴菲給我們,巴菲上撒了點杏仁及焦糖,店家解說這甜品有點像雪糕,但未凝固,個人認為如雪糕一樣的油膩,但由於唔夠凍,吃起來更形比雪糕顯得肥膩,含氣梳孔太多入口絕不細滑,感覺反而是最差的一個甜品

最後當然要來一杯滴滴咖啡,咖啡都算幾香的,又是那份越南咖啡獨有帶着一份如麝香,,不過真的勁多煉奶,幸而本人一早知有這個可能,所以先以匙羹試了杯底,探知奶的厚度,再事乎其厚度來發出多少的煉奶來撈,真的幸好有這麼做,不然整杯咖啡一定甜得喝不下;女友選的三色冰一次過吃勻綠豆、大菜糕及粉圓,粉圓呈紅色,吃入口是外腍內爽的,感覺非常有趣,加上夠冰凍,喝起來椰汁味又夠重,就是不錯的了。

是日款款菜式實屬麻麻,部份更可以用差來形容,如店家真的是去了越南胡志明市取經,究竟是人家錦麗不行,還是店家派去取經的人仕未能取西經呢?這個真的不得而知了。

串燒 - 污卒卒的三串, 味道偏咸, 另上的沙爹汁比較淡

- 當晚有一位女侍應又答錯問題又計錯數又剩咁, 經常同人講:唔好意思, 我新番工, d嘢唔清楚...", 雖然講嘅時候態度唔係差, 但短短一餐飯, 起碼聽見5次又係咪誇張咗呢?

- 開放廚房內只得一個廚師在做嘢, 上菜的時間都頗耐...

- 枱與枱之間很近, 經常同隔離枱(位)你眼望我眼, 比麥dodo更無私隱呢...

PHO BO (Rice Noodles with Rare Beef) -
Along with the noodles comes a basket of 九層塔 (Thai Basil) and Bean Sprouts, a wedge of Lime, and chopped Birds Eye Chili. No signs of 鵝蒂 or 毛翁 on this day. The French-Vietnamese inspired Pho arrived not long after, its a dish with a formula which bears some resemblance to French Onion Soup, although others think its associated with Pot Au Feu, but I don't think so! :
- Soup was lukewarm at best.
- The onions were hacked into big chunks rather than sliced thinly. This means in the middle of eating your soft noodles, you often end up biting into thick, crunchy and very raw onion pieces. A good Pho shop should always horizontally slice up the onions paper thin.
- The Soup was fairly weak, murky and artificially sweet, the latter not really from onion. Its slightly oily but otherwise one dimensionally sweet with a faint beef bone marrow and fat flavour hiding in the background. Too diluted. Even adding in that single 九層塔 herb I was given could not rescue the blandness, unless if you believe spring onion plays a major role in the pho broth, which it shouldn't! A truly good Pho's broth, should have a small hint of spice just to tickle your palate, a strong roasty beef bone and marrow/fat depthness, then enhanced by a handful of fresh green herbs as mentioned above, and hopefully appears as a transparent clear broth carrying all the essences of the above combined. Unfortunately - this failed in every single aspect.
- Rice noodles seem slightly overcooked, some of them clumped together. They are also the less-transparent, very Cantonese whitish type.
- Beef slices were actually quite tasty but there were what - 4 narrow slices at most?
Much like they skimped back majorly on the essential ingredients used to cook the weak underlying broth, its seems like they also think its cool to cheat the customer by giving them less beef than any other shop out there but still charge a highish price.

LIME SODA -
Just like the Pho above, this lacked real lime taste. Its more like a plain soda.

- SERVICE IS VERY GOOD HERE.
- THE PHO AND ITS BROTH ARE PROBABLY NOT WORTH A CRYING FACE ON ITS OWN, AS IT IS ACTUALLY EDIBLE.....
- YET, CONSIDERING THE WAY THEY TRADE UNDER AND MARKERTIZE THEMSELVES AS SHARING LINAGE WITH THE ORIGINAL FAMOUS 'PHO LE (錦麗)', SURELY, THIS SHOULD HAVE PERFORMED MUCH BETTER. TOGETHER WITH THAT MERELY WARM SOUP AND THE MISERLY PORTIONING OF BEEF MEAT GIVEN..... THESE 3 THINGS IN THE END PROMPTED ME TO AWARD THEM A CRYING FACE. GOD BLESS YOU.
