焦糖布丁: 可能因為我最近喜歡上焦糖布丁, 所以我特別喜歡這甜品, 焦糖和布丁部份配合得很好...

由於今次是由學生Mammy預先為我們結帳了, 所以我們不知道價錢....不過我覺得在一個這樣悠閒的地方食飯, 也不錯...

, kind of like in your best buddy’s garden, I like it! The friendly staff recommended a wine (can’t remember the name, something like "Wirrai Wirrai”). The fresh bread with mustard, garlic and herbs made a refreshing change from the usual white/spongy bread-substitute you tend to get in HK joints). The tapas (we shared a "Stables Tapas Platter") were really good and served on a wooden board, which gave it a kind of “at home” feel. The scallop deserves particular mention (I’m a total scallop fan – and this one was PERFECT
), but also the a beef and pepper skewer, seared prawn and smoked salmon, chorizo, Parma ham, tomato canapés, and mixed green salad went down a treat. The Myers rib eye steak just hit the spot. It came with a parmesan-baked tomato and two side dishes (I went for the mashed potatoes (better than my mum's
!) and the mixed vegetables. The sauces and gravies to go with my meat were a real surprise: rosemary gravy, Satay sauce, mango chutney, salsa verde, mint jelly, horseradish dip and a BBQ sauce. Can’t really say which one I liked best, probably the rosemary gravy. My buddy had the “impossible chocolate cream tart with whiskey ice cream” and I sacrificed my waistline and “helped” him finish it….
It was a darn good dinner in a very decent atmosphere. Will definitely go there again.

This restaurant is very cozy and has a sort of intimacy for which you normally have to leave town. We decided to follow the staff recommendation when we ordered. The wine we drank was the Wirrai Wirrai, a sufficiently rich accompaniment for red meat dishes, but not too heavy. The fresh bread on our table came with a homemade aioli with French mustard, garlic and fresh herbs - very yummy! However, we were hungry and needed a “real” starter, so we had the Stables Tapas Platter to share. The delicious bite-sized appetizers were served on a rustic wooden board and included plump and juicy (and meltingly tender!) scallop, a little beef and bell-pepper skewer, a seared prawn as well as a selection of smoked salmon, chorizo, Parma ham, two canapés of tomato, egg and anchovy, some slices of crisp bread and a bowl of mixed green salad. For main courses, we ordered the Iberico pork chop and the Myers rib eye steak, both of which arrived with a parmesan-baked tomato and our choice of two side dishes each: We had the mashed potatoes (which were creamy and buttery – just how I like it), the mixed vegetables (carrot and zucchini spears), spinach and asparagus. There was an elaborate choice of different condiments for the meat: rosemary gravy, satay sauce, mango chutney, salsa verde, mint jelly, horseradish dip and a Chinese bbq sauce. I drowned my steak in the fabulous rosemary gravy, while my friend had “a bit of everything”. By the time we finished, we weren’t very hungry anymore, but the outdoorsy atmosphere is so relaxing that we decided to indulge in some dessert too. My friend had a selection of sorbets and ice cream, while I (oink oink) went for the impossible chocolate cream tart with whiskey ice cream. Needless to say, we fell into a content silence on the ferry home…

好耐之前食 , 現在才有時間寫。先講一下這個集團的知客有幾唔掂。那天三四點我仍未食lunch , 男友提議去heritage1881 , 在HULLET HOUSE另一邊的餐廳(飲下午茶嗰邊)遇到幾位非常白鴿眼和不專業的知客,其中一個是外國人。那天男友看到下午茶嗰間唔啱食,見入面仲有些餐廳,想入去睇吓有甚麼好食,那知客即衝前攔截,不禮貌地話不可以參觀。男友問d餐廳開咗未,佢話開咗,但唔可以參觀。而家食飯呀!成日驚死人參觀!咁驚就唔好打開門做生意啦!之後佢一肚氣咁去了Stables Grill搵位, 坐低先知係同一集團的。我們點了牛扒,蜆意粉,兩個甜品。食物唔算突出,普通西餐廳。食緊嘅時候,男友同我講剛才知客的不禮貌,仲話唔信的話,一陣食完我可以去試吓。我就去試吓,果然好無禮貌!尤其外籍嗰位知客對眼生喺頭頂,鼻指向天的!我問係咪有其他餐廳,佢地都唔願招呼,一味話唔可以入,咁我想知有那幾間餐廳有甚麼食,佢地都唔識攞嗰間餐廳的餐牌比我,要我叫先至攞。我睇完比返佢,佢個樣好藐視地令我覺得有以下感覺:睇完餐牌又點?咪又係唔幫趁! 絕對要加強員培訓!

。那天三四點我仍未食lunch , 男友提議去heritage1881 , 在HULLET HOUSE另一邊的餐廳(飲下午茶嗰邊)遇到幾位非常白鴿眼
和不專業的知客,其中一個是外國人。那天男友看到下午茶嗰間唔啱食,見入面仲有些餐廳,想入去睇吓有甚麼好食,那知客即衝前攔截,不禮貌地話不可以參觀。男友問d餐廳開咗未,佢話開咗,但唔可以參觀。而家食飯呀!成日驚死人參觀!咁驚就唔好打開門做生意啦!

之後佢一肚氣咁去了Stables Grill搵位, 坐低先知係同一集團的。我們點了牛扒,蜆意粉,兩個甜品。食物唔算突出,普通西餐廳。

食緊嘅時候,男友同我講剛才知客的不禮貌,仲話唔信的話,一陣食完我可以去試吓。我就去試吓,果然好無禮貌!尤其外籍嗰位知客對眼生喺頭頂,鼻指向天的!我問係咪有其他餐廳,佢地都唔願招呼,一味話唔可以入,咁我想知有那幾間餐廳有甚麼食,佢地都唔識攞嗰間餐廳的餐牌比我,要我叫先至攞。我睇完比返佢,佢個樣好藐視地令我覺得有以下感覺:睇完餐牌又點?咪又係唔幫趁! 

絕對要加強員培訓!

My friend and I have been struggling for the venue to celebrate my belated b-day...then we thought about Heritage 1881. My friend did check the comment from Open Rice yet we were thinking that comments can be subjective and why not giving it a try ourselves.My friends, we learned a lesson here, ie we should be open-minded to others' comments and take their advice in a respectful manner. The food was exceptionally sucks here! They have lousy service...waiters/waitresses are very unprofessional

Back to food, we ordered a Portobello pizza & the Angus beef striplon grill. The only complement is that, the presentation of both dishes were good...

Portobello pizza

- the mushrooms were chopped into little pieces and it's really true to its name that there were ONLY portobello in that pizza with some sort of mayo mixed dressing (yaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkkkk!). To our dismay (further), the pizza wasn't served hot, it's lukewarm...so we 'consulted' with the waiter and his answer in a non-chalant way as follows:
"唔會, 個pizza係即刻整,唔會凍嘅"
Then, he walked away and didn't even bother anymore. I almost believed it's our problem so we just went ahead to finish the "cold" pizza


*** One additional remark, there's no such thing as "chilly flakes" in the restaurant and they brought me FRESH CHILLI, GOD!


Grilled Angus beef striplon

- The texture of the beef was very chewy...I guess we misunderstood the name of the dish...it should be "Angus" beef striplon in quotation marks cos "Angus" basically referred to the name of the cow being slaughtered. Again, our mistake, so my apology to the restaurant. The so-called 6 special sources were tasteless and it didn't match the beef at all...it's creative in a impractical manner, what a waste!

After this amazing adventure of the 2 dishes, we decided to pass on the drinks or dessert. Somehow, we were fortunate in a sense that they didn't push us to order the aqua roma

It was just right after the opening of Heritage.
I and 2 other very good friends were very much looking forward to give it a try at the "1881 Heritage".

It was started with some nice impression that we in the beginning couldn't find the entrance to the Stables Grill, but led by some pleasant usher from "Parlour". Then realized these restaurants in the Heritage are under the same group.

Badly enough, it was a rainy evening, but luckily the weather got cooler and we were set in an open space restaurant. Well, we felt good enough until we started reading the menu, could not imagine how boring the menu could be.

Then, we thought we needed some help for their specialties.
We chose Steam Mussels I/O Clams. The clams on the menu was only $48, but the mussels on the on the bill was $120. Mussels was not listed, but the waiter did not tell.

We had the Mussels & Platter as starter, but then their unprofessional services started to show. Just after the antipasto, we were asked whether we had our dinner completed and they should have checked the their record and not asked. We all felt it was a "chai chn tan" for those who bought the 'Master Piece" in Hong Kong recently.

The Bread was ok
Mussels - claimed from Canada - Fair enough!
Tapas Platters - OMG! small portion for $188...
Portebello - Pizzas with mushroom. Well, you and me can do better.
Tiger Prawns - $58/each - Tasteless. so, it comes with different kind of sauces. But the sourcers come in Plastic. BAD TASTE!

p.s. All above mentioned prices are excluding 10% service charge

NO sweets were chosen that evening and we went to Hxxxx...Daz instead, so, need I say more!

We had dinner there starting at 7 pm.

Its chef food was grilled crusine with choices of seafood, steak and some side dishes. It also offers pasta and crushy pizza.

We ordered grilled baby sea bass, spicy tiger prawns and jumbo chcken wings with side dishes of asparagus and french fries which were served with platter of sauces.

The food was not nicely grilled while side dishes were better. We had no further comments on it.

The atmosphere was tried to be made nice but was all interrupted by the staff working in open kitchen. They spoke loudly when handling orders like executing the orders in robot manner.

Our mood was also destroyed by the waiter. As a "upper class" (in terms of price) restaurant they presented to be, the staff was not attentive. We had prawn and chicken wings. My dish was filled with the bones when I only finished the half. But the waiter only cared to have the finished dishes cleared from the table and did not offer to get me a clean dish for me to finish the other half. Worser was they tried to take away my dish when I was still having my food. He stopped until I had to speak "it was not yet done".

As soon as the table was cleared, they offered us no dessert or coffee to order. Why in that hurry?

We checked out bill at 8 pm. Exactly one hour we could stay here.
