As stated in my earlier review at Uno Mas on 3/11/2009 "if they have the tapa's lunch I will come back again."http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2041031So here I am, I am back here again!!!!The new MOTTO by UnoMas isne more?much more?unlimited tapasat uno masSince 2009, I have to say, there have been BIG BIG improvements, and this time it certainly deserves a Some of the staff are still the same that worked there before, and some new ones.After sitting down, they kindly offered water, and asked if I wanted hot or cold, previously not attended to, and there were more smiles on their faces than before.The menu was very pleasing, I was happy with their 3 tapas lunch per person before, but now it is unlimited which is even more amazing.There are 17 choices of tapas including soup and dessert.Instead of the annoying air conditioning being on during the cold winter, making you colder, they had heater, which made the dining experience alot warmer, and the food was kept warm, unlike those irritating air conditioners.The only slight dissapointment was the baby squids were not on the tapas menu , i have been craving for it since my last tapas lunch here two years ago, which shows this place is better than it seems since it is still here after 2 year considering alot come and go in the Wan Chai area.There 17 choices of tapas are:I tried all the tapas except for 2, 4, 8, 14.1-PATATAS BRAVASDeep fried new potatoes dusted with spicy paprika, served with alioliCOMMENT:The potatoes were fluffy inside with a crisp outer layer jazzed up by the spicy paprika and the mayonnaise was gorgeous with the potato.2-ENSALADILLA RUSARussian Salad with TunaDidnt try:3-CROQUETA DE POLLOChicken potato croquettesCOMMENT:These were fried just right to crispy golden brown, and the potato inside was silky, however the chicken couldnt be tasted.Left hand side of picture below4-CALAMARES A LA ANDALUZAFried squid rings "Andalucia"Didnt try:5-GAMBAS AL AJILLOSautéed prawns with garlicCOMMENT:The prawns were very fresh and the sauce was very appropriate for dipping the bread in.6-COCA SABLE CON ANCHOAS Y PIMENTO ROJO DEL PIQUILLOShortbread with olive tapenade, piquillo red pepper, white anchovies, and Manchego cheeseCOMMENT:This was presented very nicely, the sauce, the layers and it tasted nice especially the olive puree, although I would have preferred savory bread/biscuit.7-ALBÓNDIGAS CON TOMATEMeatballs with tomato herb sauceCOMMENT:These tasted how it should, bit like italian meatballs.Middle of the picture8-CHORIZO FRITOFried chorizo sausage in red wine reductionDidnt try:9-PINCHO MORUNO DE CERDOGrilled marinated pork skewersCOMMENT:Just ordinary marinated porkNo picture10-SETAS MIXTAS AL JEREZSautéed mixed mushrooms with dry sherryCOMMENT:Mushrooms always taste good and with sherry even better.11-CONCHINILLO ASADO CON MIEL Y AJOS TIERNOSHoney roast suckling pig with spring onionCOMMENT:Quite sweet, and the pork was tender, the skin was slightly sticky12-RABO DE TOROBraised Ox tail in red wine reductionCOMMENT:The ox tail was very tender and the sauce was rich.See the meatballs picture on the left.13-ARROZ NEGRORice cooked in squid ink, garlic and onionCOMMENT:The rice was so yummy and fully flavoured, and not undercooked.14-ARROZ CON VERDURASMixed seasonal vegetables braised in saffron riceDidnt try: 15- TORTILLA DE PATATAPotato, onion and egg omelette with alioliDidnt try: But tried on my previous visit, it is basically like a big omlette, and its too filling for lunch.16-SOUP OF THE DAYCOMMENT:It was spinach that day in clear consomme, the spinach was blanched just right.17-DESSERT OF THE DAYCOMMENT:It was almond ice-cream which I do not have a picture, but it was good anyway, not too sweet.Complimentary bread:Matching silver pencil and Menu stand[:/b] continue reading

This is the second time i go there, the first time we just went there for a drink and some snacks. It was ok so this time we went for a dinner. Two of us had a garlic prawn starter, a cold cut platter, tortilla and roasted pig belly. We opened a bottle of white wine as well. Service was ok but the food was very disappointing. Apart the garlic prawn, none of them was good and we paid $850 between the two of us. I will not rush back to it. continue reading

<<女店員服務極差,疑似Manager的中年女人>>UnoMas係尋日我0係本雜誌"JESSICA"入面見到有介紹…所以,今日突登帶埋2個朋友一齊去食Lunch~點知一入到去,就發生以下不愉快的事:我地三個女仔一入到去,一個疑似Manager膚色很黑的中年女人用個極級睇唔起人既眼神咁問我地幾多位,我話:"3位",佢又再細細聲咁問我地"有無Book位",我話無,之後佢話"咁你地坐呢邊丫".(指住近門口的高檯加一個不肖的眼神)。我地諗住坐低傾下計,所以唔想坐得唔舒服,所以,我就話:"可唔可坐d低d既檯?"然後個女人答:"暫時無喎!" 嘩!無就算啦…唔洗d態度咁差嘛…我地三個忍唔住,即刻轉身走就去第二間啦…我保證呢一間餐廳呢一世都唔會再去!! continue reading

Uno Mas was one of my favourite restaurants in the past, NOT anymore.Went there for dinner with a few friends tonight, and felt that the restaurant is now under a complete different management (my last visit was about a year ago).The extensive choice of tapas is now replaced by a boring standard menu. The food has gone from tasty to blend.I remember Uno Mas as a very lively restaurant, with friendly and attentive services. Unfortunately, none of the waitresses who served us tonight were willing to give us a smile. I have even found them rather pushy, almost unfriendly, in terms of asking us if we need more drinks and deserts. I feel bad for suggesting my friends to come to Uno Mas tonight, as I believe none of them have found the evening particular enjoyable. Will not go back there for sure. continue reading

the service, decor and drinks (whie wine Sangria) were all excellent. but the food was disappointing. we ordered a few tapas. the garlic shrimp and egg tortilla were only ok, but the tomato on toast was good. our main dish, the uno mas paella, was VERY salty.i would probably go back only for the sangria and crushed tomato topped bread. continue reading
