Our friends were from Singapore and US and one of them does not eat pork. We managed to order enough dishes without any pork. One dim sum I wanted to try was traditional shark fin's soup dumpling but we can wait till next time since it has pork inside.

The famous pi pa duck. It wasn't as nice as I remembered it to be when Yixin was in Causeway Bay. The whole duck used to be flattened and the inside marinated very nicely. Now it is just like a roast duck and a little too fatty too
Fried milk is a dish of fried egg white, milk, crab meat and mushrooms. I didn't use to like it as it tasted too much of milk but this time I did as they added a lot of crab meat which diluted the taste of milk.
Fried beef with yau teo. This is an old fashion Cantonese dish and as I am a yau teo fan, I try to pick out more yau teo pieces and as they slice the dough and deep fry it, it's very crispy and it soaks up the beef sauce making it tasty
Fried broccoli was my daughter's choice and I asked them to put less oil. I only had one piece as my daughter took too many pieces.
Fried ho fan with beef in black bean sauce. I ordered this as I saw the next table had a dish which looked good. It turned out to be just average.
Fried lotus root with lily bulb and sugar snaps. Again my daughter's choice as she loves vegetarian dishes. I saw our US friend didn't like the lily bulb pieces and I agree it has a taste and texture that takes getting used to.
Prawns baked in vermicelli in clay dish was not as nice as I had hoped and as this dish came late, we didn't finish it.

Plain rice and congee at Yixin is a good quality, much nicer than most other restaurants, so we ordered some to go with the dishes. Their congee has bean sheets melted inside and so it's smooth and smells distinct.

The meal was a gathering of old and new friends, our new friend liked the duck and most of the dishes. We didn't finish some of the dishes and had to pack them to take home.

星期日一家大細嚟飲茶. 之前喺灣仔分店一班朋友食晚飯. 超好食. 諗住飲茶都應該ok la. 記得試咗蝦餃 (皮厚), XO煎腸粉(多油但唔香口), 菠蘿叉燒包(叮熱, 最憎), 蘿白糕(削到不得了, 勁細碟, 最差). 環境加埋地段嚟講可以話抵, 但真係唔好食.

事前已有朋友說這一味相當出色, 結果亦沒有令我們失望, 葡汁非常香, 加上本身這裡高質素的雞肉, 一吃就是兩三碗。 份量亦相當多, 可足夠 3 人用... 最後我們當然吃不下, 要打包回去。

好開心又找到一間好質素的中菜館.. 已約好一班朋友下次拉隊光臨, 試埋其他食家推介的菜色。

This place is just 5 minutes away from where I live, I have to say I was really upset when the former restaurant "chui hung choon" was closed down. I basically grew up with it and it's food. However. I remember going to Yick sun when it was at causewaybay but it certainly did not leave me the best impression back then. The lemon chicken and the char siu in particular. Its pricey compare to the other ordinary chinese restaurants but judging by the quality of food they serve, they are definately worth it.

I lived around the area and have never tried this reatuarant so gave it a try last week and was very disappointed. Because my gf and I were "new face", the waiters and host treated us in a very stuck up way. They even offered free deserts to tables next to us but never bothered asking us! And we ordered twice as much food. Besides everything we ordered was nothing special and way too over priced. Will not go back.

we always order:

char siu, regular size: one of the few things that remains unchanged, for good. sauce is slightly sweet, of good consistency, with a faint soy sauce flavor. meat is roasted well - no visible charred bits (less carcinogenic, for the health conscious), darker on the outside, not too fatty, just right. the peanuts that accompanies it are drenched in sauce - may possibly be cooked together?

豉油雞: either this or the crispy ('jar jee gai') deep fried chicken. i prefer this as it is less salty. last time we had it the chicken was tender and the amount of soy sauce used was just right. i always like a tablespoon of the sauce (from the bottom of the platter) with a bowl of rice. the sauce on the platter is a combination of the soy sauce itself and the chicken (fat from the chicken too)...
would be great if they used more spring onions

帶子蒸豆腐: i love scallops. i can say it's my favorite source of protein. the irony is i don't like tofu - but i still eat this. again the cooking time is good as scallops are not overcooked - i hate it when scallops are overcooked, it completely ruins the enjoyment of eating it. it's like eating conpoy. anyway. tofu is silken tofu, not hard. so this combination is soft, to the bite and flavorful with the delicate seasoning.

煙熏蒼魚: not that great the last time we ordered it. well i always like it from SHANGHAI FRATERNITY and this is not as good. it doesn't have that rich smokey flavor that i ought to have, and it's not as crisp on the outside as they make it in shanghai fraternity.

炒鮮奶: we order it almost every time because my mom likes it.
it's not too oily (a big problem with some other more traditional pekingnese/shanghainese restaurants where they serve this, which i understand as flaking the egg white does require the oil technique.); soft and you can tell that it's not just egg white (ie it's a batter of egg white and milk or some other dairy products - it's not as tough as pure egg white). it's served with a little bit of straw mushrooms which compliments the flavor. however i find the sauce a bit thick sometimes.

琵琶鴨: i don't like duck but dad thinks this is their best duck dish.

had their dim sum once and thought it was good but not unforgettably so. that was at least 6 mths ago so cannot comment much. i can assure you it's better than, say, fung shing in times square.

豉油雞:豉油汁醃得入味; 雞皮爽滑; 雞肉亦頗嫩。不愛琵琶鴨汁那油膩感的朋友,可嚐嚐豉油雞汁撈飯

涼拌海哲: 爽口

琵琶鴨($95):最棒這道菜,聽聞找來十多年經驗的燒味師傅用上懷舊菜常用的南乳和玫瑰露來燒。他們選擇了傻質鴨種所據備的胸肉肥厚,肉多而骨細的米鴨來燒,鴨肉鮮嫩入味,不怕油膩的人,可嚐嚐用琵琶鴨的汁來撈飯

豉汁帶子蒸豆腐:豆腐蒸得很滑溜 ; 帶子亦很柔嫩,加上廣東菜關常用的蔥碎灑上帶子蒸豆腐面頭,更帶出其帶子的鮮味

又是題外話的八卦時段,吃到一半再望了胡應湘幾眼,見他用完雙手悴眼後,然後伸出一指蟬狂剔牙。真的看得我目睜口呆。這或許也說明上流社會的人不一定每個都有儀態的。
論是次光顧的食物質素是不錯的,但記憶之中也曾在渣甸山的益新吃過難吃的餸菜。
離開益新正門時,迎面遇上吳君如,自覺與吳君如夫婦真的頗有緣,兩星期多前在中環的古董車展內還與陳可辛擦身而過呢!

有 d 食評寫到呢間餐廳唔係噤衛生, 不過光顧後並無呢種感覺..兩個人去食, 食左兩道菜 + 湯. 其實都係根據其他評語提過既菜式當中選擇.... (iPhone + 3G 無限上網真係方便! 可即場上 openrice 睇清睇楚)例湯 - 老黃瓜煲瘦肉 + 魚 + 黃豆西檸雞 - 正! 檸檬味外重有一陣好似奶類的香味, 好特別薑汁炒蘭度 - 整得好味絕對有難度! 好明顯用 d 好嫩既介蘭 + 火侯岩岩好. 不過食唔到薑味乜滯. 但介蘭好好味, 又一點也不苦. 對於一個平時唔係噤鍾意食介蘭既人, 絕對值得一讃.

薑汁炒蘭度 - 整得好味絕對有難度! 好明顯用 d 好嫩既介蘭 + 火侯岩岩好. 不過食唔到薑味乜滯. 但介蘭好好味, 又一點也不苦. 對於一個平時唔係噤鍾意食介蘭既人, 絕對值得一讃.

On July 1, my family & I went to this resturant in Jardine Lookout because we had tried the one in Happy Valley and the previous one in Wanchai which are quite up to standard. But going to this restaurant is the biggest mistake we ever tried.We had booked a table for 4, the hostess gave us a table at the door. We had booked a table for 4, the hostess gave us a table at the door. My son spotted a table near the window that was waited to be cleared and so we requested to sit there. We were all sitting down waiting for the waitress to set the table............that is when the really terrible happening that we had experienced.

Amongst a pile of 'cleaned' dishes being distributed to each of us, there was a dish with strips of 'left over' food; we are shocked! Then come to the turn of setting the cups, again there were cups with traces of food inside. We were so shocked that we asked to have water to rinse our cultery (this kind of action will only be found in budgetted restaurants). After we were all set, again I accidentally found some food stuck under my son's plate. SHOCK AFTER SHOCK. I complained to the waitress/waiter who either had no comments or pretended not to hear. I wanted to leave the restaurant, but my son was so hungry that he did not want to go elsewhere.

Only after we had checked the bill and upon leaving the premises that the hostess lightly said a simple "sorry" with no remorse.

What kind of restaurant it is!!!!!! I had patronized to the previous operator, Tsui Hang Village, and it was a big difference.

Imagine this kind of restaurant in Jardine Lookout. Good luck to those people who patronize there.

On top of it, food is not up to the standard with the price they charged.
