Happy Friday! Let's have lunch outside to celebrate. It was a cafe in Yau Ma Tei where I had never been. As its name suggested, it was really not just about coffee. It was located in a quiet street with entrance on the ground. It had high ceilings and made one feel comfortable being seated. Their furniture was wooden and their tableware was mostly wooden too. They offered quite a number of different pastas, udon, soba and burger with most mains containing seafood. They offered quite a number of different pastas, udon, soba and burger with most mains containing seafood. I would say it was quite a Japanese fusion menu. As it was our first visit, we ordered two of their signature mains and one snack to share.

The whole dish was presented very nice in a big Japanese style wooden bowl for the udon and lobster bisque in a kettle to keep warmth. The 木魚 shreds on top smelt very good.

Before we started eating, we poured the lobster bisque into the udon bowl which was so much that it easily filled up the wooden bowl. The soup was reasonably rich in lobster and was super clear and free of oil. The udon was very smooth and of those thin type. I particularly liked how it went with the seaweed shreds on top. There were 3 big prawns which were so meaty and crispy with all shells removed. There were also loads of chopped crab meat. There were quite a few slices of fresh avocado and some fresh salad greens and a cherry tomato to add veggies content to the bowl. Quite a special udon indeed. No wonder one of their signatures.

There were quite a lot of chopped crab meat, fresh crab meat and crispy crab roes and even some crab paste on the linguine! The sauce was cream sauce which was smooth and sufficient for the linguine. The texture of the linguine was ok, not too soft although I would prefer it to be a little bit more al dente. Like the other bowl, it was topped by some 木魚 and seaweed shreds to enhance flavour and texture. Accompanying the dish there were also some fresh salad greens and a cherry tomato. Portion was big and the overall quality was nice.

There were 7 pieces cutting about 3 wings into halves for easier consumption. The wings should have been oven-ed with crispy skin. The sauce was sweet which was quite like honey sauce. There were some accompanying fresh greens, onion slices and cherry tomatoes.

Given its name, of course we had to try out their non coffees so we ordered the two drinks under non coffees.

Matcha Latte $45+10%

It was quite a good mix of matcha and milk so that it was not overly concentrated or diluted in either component. It was definitely not sweet.

Chocolate $37+10%

They said natural cocoa powder from France was adopted. Indeed, it was appropriately concentrated in cocoa yet also rich in milk so that it was not bitter. The cocoa powder had been totally dissolved so that we could clear the bottom of the glass with no leftover undissolved powder.

Overall, we were quite happy with the food. Environment was nice and seating was comfortable. Service was efficient that we finished everything in 30 min.
