To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 同朋友大年初一,滿心歡喜到機場準備去外地旅行,check-in 完,當然食番個港式早餐先啦,順利入到翠華坐低,我同個friend一人叫一個沙爹牛肉麵餐,我就要煎雙蛋,佢就要炒熟蛋。講老實,牛肉麵嚟到,啲麵淋嘅都算喇,煎雙蛋嚟左,我食晒,個friend嘅炒熟蛋仲未到,追侍應,都預左佢話炒熟蛋,係要預耐啲架啦,都唔緊要,但係碟炒蛋上枱,係一pet水蛋,蛋唔熟不特只,仲要出水,我個friend唯有唔食,以作抗議,埋單走人。當日客人唔多,作為一間香港有代表性嘅荼餐廳,出品同服務都水準之下,我地真係好失望。
