To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 與好友不約而同的相遇,大家也覺肚餓便隨意選了間餐廳共進午餐。餐廳的食物頗多元化,因此我們並沒有從set lunch中選擇那些平平無奇的食物,而是在另一餐牌挑選其他較具特色的意大利飯及意粉。墨魚汁鮮蜆魷魚意大利飯:上菜的時候不禁覺得奇怪,明明餐牌上的文字跟圖片都沒有註明會加上番茄蓉的,為何上桌時黑漆漆的墨汁飯會跟鮮紅的番茄交疊在一起呢。而友人的鴨胸炒意粉亦遭遇到同樣的問題,與她所期待的油炒意粉有很大出入。幸好自己對蕃茄並不抗拒,就即管試試味道如何。黑得發亮的飯粒間滲透着潔白的忌廉汁,吃起上來充滿奶香但偏膩口,恰巧面頭的蕃茄蓉錯有錯着地起了提味和解膩的作用。墨汁飯並不是採用尖身和較硬的意大利米作烹調,因此飯粒口感相對軟糯,比較符合香港人的口味。蜆仔跟魷魚圈的份量合理,惟味道不足,似是沒有經過調味。以平民價格就能吃到有模有樣的菜式,性價比還不錯。
