To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. 東大街是著名食街,食店林立,以小店為主,價錢相宜。食客雖多,但競爭亦大。這咖啡店位於新建的單棟式豪宅中,其高格調的裝修,與其它食店有點格格不入。可能自知位置不太理想,所以在街上都掛了數張宣傳海報,又有接受雜誌訪問介紹。小妹家住附近,經友人告知新開小店,於是決定一試。店面為落地大玻璃,所以店內相當明亮,有三分一位置建了一小平台,沒有檯凳,只放了咕𠱸、數隻玩具小狗等裝飾。約有二十款飲品選擇,但算不上特色。食物方面有牛角包、餡餅、焗蛋等。餐牌有點混亂,要店員解釋,才知道有甚麼選擇。小妹選了午餐,有凍朱古力和焗蛋。凍朱古力好大杯,但無味、又唔香。焗蛋不錯;小小的鐵窩中,底層有麵包,吸收了上層的醬汁,亦軟硬適中,還有濃濃的香草味道;中層有蘑菇、芝士,味道香濃;面層有菠菜和蛋,味道一般。雖然飽肚,但總括味道一般,而且只有一杯凍飲,一個主菜和數片生菜的沙律。就要90大元。銅鑼灣也不用這個價錢,而且東大街還有很多選擇。
