Had a day off and we came for shopping in Tai Koo Shing. We watched the movie “Overheard” and it was much better than we expected. We spent too much time on trying clothing etc, so missed the lunchtime, but still we came to try the lunch menu here.I ordered a 百両 set and hubby ordered a 海鮮魚生飯 set. I ordered a 百両 set and hubby ordered a 海鮮魚生飯 set. There were tempura prawn with udon, a fried tofu and also three pieces of sushi for my set. For hubby, he had a fried tofu, a miso soup and a bowl of sushi rice with salmon, tuna, minced tuna, scallop, a large butan prawn and Japanese sweet egg.
The tempura prawns were crispy and I agreed with the previous comments that the tempura coating was rather too thick. It would be much better if traditional Japanese tempura coating was used. The udon was very nice and chewy. I particularly like this kind of udon, it resembled those ‘hand-beaten’ udon. The three pieces of sushi were salmon, a squid and also a piece of unagi (eel). The sushi were fresh and the size was not small. The fish covered the whole piece of rice, unlike some sushi shop only place the sushi on top of the rice and that it is. This set is good value for money, only $48 a set.
Hubby said the fish for his sashimi rice was very fresh. Particularly the scallop were very fresh and tasty. He loved the sashimi rice very much.
It is too bad that there is no branch of this shop near my office, else I could go there and have lunch and enjoy good quality of Japanese sushi.
