818 The Seafood is a Cantonese restaurant that focuses the use of seafood in their menu and features a wide array of creative Chinese dishes. We tried out this spot to see what their dim sum was all about! 🥢 Pic 1️⃣: 塘泮高湯金魚餃 / 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗗𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗽 - $58 hkd 🐠 — Love ordering this whenever I see this on the menu as I love seeing how differently each chef prepares this and how delicate their plating is.
— Love ordering this whenever I see this on the menu as I love seeing how differently each chef prepares this and how delicate their plating is. The shrimp and scallop dumplings were actually delicious, as the filling was well seasoned and you could really taste both the shrimp and scallop flavours come through. The dumpling wrapper was also nice and thin. The broth was flavourful, rich, and went really well with the flavours of the seafood.

— Had high expectations for this as I thought the flavours would be really strong and savoury. The ibérico ham flavour was not strong enough, which meant that the puff lacked savouriness. Although the puff pastry had a light, flaky texture, I think flavours can be improved.

— Egg tarts were pretty good, the crust was flaky and buttery, egg custard was smooth and perfectly sweetened but I think they need to make it clear that there’s orange in it 😅 The orange flavour and scent was actually quite prominent, and as someone who hates oranges, it was a bit off putting for me unfortunately.

— Very average. The barbecued pork filling was pretty tasty, as it had a nice balance of sweetness to savouriness to it, and a good amount of meat in it. The texture of the buns were a bit one-dimensional and just very soft but not pillowy in any way, the crust was also not particularly crunchy on top either.

— Flavours are alright as the XO sauce gave the dish that extra flavour boost and kick to it, but it was simply too oily.

— The name is a bit misleading here in my opinion 😂 I thought this might’ve carried a light rose flavour to it, but what it really meant was that they’d be rose shaped 😂 However, the red date flavour was pretty strong, but the pudding lacked a chewy texture to it, and resembled more of a jelly.
