To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 和朋友一起到旺角新世紀廣場的牛涮鍋晚膳吃 Shabu Shabu, 雖然已預先 book 位並準時到埸, 但也要再等多 30 mins 才能輪到我們入內進食, 今次我們打算食豪啲,所以點了日本極上黑毛和牛放題, 這個餐除了日本和牛外, 還包括海鮮、澳洲和牛、美國牛小排、丹麥豚肉及美洲等特選雞腿肉等, 配以椰子雞湯和蕃茄湯底, 點菜之後我們到自助食品區內挑選喜歡的野菜及烏冬麵食等, 款式其實跟其他 Shabu Shabu 店差不多! 回到餐桌, 食物已送到來, 首先送到的是海鮮類別, 包括有車海老及帆立貝等,  之後送到的則是引頸以待的日本黑毛和牛, 把牛肉片放在鍋內輕輕炙熟, 已經急不及待進食, 發覺果然名不虛傳, 有入口即溶之感,狂風掃落葉式的吃了一輪肉片後, 再把海鮮剌身放進湯內輕微炙燒, 海鮮的鮮味即被引帶出來, 十分滋味 !雖然輪候入場進食需時, 但與朋友吃得飽飽的, ichiban 嘅呢!
