To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 我們點了一個四千多元的12人套餐,六個小碟裡的素鵝好吃,花膠瑤柱竹笙黃菜湯也好!砂鍋大烤魯排骨遼參的遼參很爽口有驚喜,整體所有食物都不錯。唯獨雪菜肉絲炒年糕幾乎無味,較為遜色!是次於新世紀廣場北京樓用餐的經驗很難忘,沒想到今時今日的大集團會有這樣的員工!我們入座時已知道只有兩小時用餐,亦同意其安排。兩個女侍應由我們入座後至離座前不斷走來騷擾我們,無禮地告訴我們要兩小時還檯。六點幾入座、預設七時上菜,我們八時正離開。這不僅是很趕,而且極難受!期間有個肥的女侍應還有一連串趕客行為令我們大開眼界!我們帶著小朋友多用品想要多一張凳,女侍應則兇惡地指著旁邊的空凳說我們已有。還有客人未到,我們問多一句她已不耐煩!檯面大,賓客沒注意到已有一小碟醬料而要求取一份。她隨即指著說「呢度咪有囉!」原來之前的劣評是真的,這絕非偶然。我們向部長反映及詢問員工名字,他竟說不知道、第二句已是包庇員工,即他顯然是知道其問題的。直至我們說要向他們的客務服務部投訴,這才說會提醒員工改善。不過一間餐廳有三個這樣的員工,連基本的服務態度也沒有。食物再好也不想再來了!
