This is my first time to write comments for a restaurant in OpenRice. I'm not used to taking many photos for food when eating out but I did so the other day, since I really enjoyed the time spent in this agreeable restaurant.I visited the restaurant with friends on a Saturday. I visited the restaurant with friends on a Saturday. Speaking in fluent English, the amiable French manager gave us a very warm welcome and eagerly introduced and explained various dishes to us. Then, we ordered two appetizers, two main dishes and three desserts as our brunch:
1.Fried Croquettes of Babylel
The food was placed in a jar, which was quite a visually interesting presentation. The croquettes were crisp with creamy and soft cheese fillings. Serving together with the croquettes was some fresh and crisp vegetables. I would say that this signature dish is really worth a try. 2.Salmon tartare
The salmon was mixed with finely chopped herbs / onions and poured with tartare sauce. The dish was fresh and helped stimulate the appetite. 3.Fish stew with French fries
Recommended by the manager, we tried this dish of the day. I have forgotten the name of the fish, but anyway, it was stewed together with some other seafood like shrimps and cuttlefish, etc. in a creamy sauce. The delicious smells wafted up from the pot and the fish mixture was just melt-in-your-mouth good (if I’m not too exaggerated). The fries were very crisp and different from ordinary fries found in common fast food stalls. 4.Deep-fried chicken piece with mashed potatoes and rocket salad
It should be another dish of the day. The meat was juicy and tasty. The mashed potatoes and the rocket salad were the icing on the cake. 5.French mustard
I would like to recommend this mustard. The smell was not too strong and the flavour was satisfying. 6.Desserts (clockwise): Raspberry Napoleon, chocolate cake and banana cake with cream (something like that)
All of them were appetising and delicious, adding a final touch for the meal. The restaurant looks homey with lots of playful and nostalgic decorations all around - street signs, colourful posters, old-school furnishing, cozily lighting, family cookbooks, etc. It should be a place where you could make yourself comfortable and enjoyable.
Other Info. :
We all think that its location is the biggest issue since it is quite hard, if not impossible, to find it out. But it is also because of its rather remote location that customers can savour the dishes and enjoy the time with friends in quite a tranquil environment. (Note: As I could remember, go down the stairs next to the shop no. 69 along Hollywood road to go to the restaurant.)
