I finally got the chance to try Shiro at Taikoo Place with a friend this Saturday night. I have always wanted to try her Seared Scallop with Cod Roe so we ordered two portions this time. As we are still recovering from all the CNY food consumption, we share the Lobster Bento. The bento is really pretty--it's served in a jewel like lacquered box with a lid. We were a little carried away marveling at the pretty food display and my friend even did the unimaginable and stood up to take an aerial shot. The seafood is fresh and it's fun discovering what each compartment contains. I consume all the ginger, preserved radish, ginseng sticks, and cucumber like a cat needing to detox while my friend focuses on the sashimi & rice.
Service is unobtrusive and attentive and everything looks pretty here; from the cream and black décor to food presentation, it's just chic, pretty, and simple. As we were seated at the sofa with a low vantage point, it's wondrous to look up at the lighted shell lamps and sushi belt counter in front of us while the shimmering tea lights on the table conveyed a sense of tranquillity which is altogether very relaxing and welcoming.I was surprised that they do charge us each 10 dollars for the hot green tea but the service is impeccable and there are frequent refills.
