Out of no where, it suddenly started to rain very heavily. The closest place to wait it out was YOI Coffee & Bakery. I ordered a Latte ($45) and they gave me a choice of beans. I decided on Columbian based beans that had a slight nutty chocolate undertone. A smooth taste with the right temperature. A bit too much milk but it was still fine.
They had three selection of cakes but it was the Religieuse a la Pistache ($68) that caught my eye. It was simply beautiful to look at. And taste? The choux was crisp and light as a cloud. The whipped cream was airy and lightly sweet.
The top choux was filled with the same whipped cream but the bottom choux was filled with a very rich pistachio pastry cream. It wasn't as completely filled to the brim like it should but it was still good none the less.
Very decent pastry but the thing that really stood out for me was how friendly the staff were. From hello to goodbye, they made the place feel welcome. They even said enjoy when they served me my food. Not that many do that here so it was definitely a surprise. Definitely be back if in the area.
