Decided to come to shau kei wan east street for dinner, after hearing so much about the eateries here. I like hainan chicken, Singapore or Thai style, and couldn't resist trying this dish at this Thai restaurant.
We ordered this as a main course and it came without rice which I soon regretted as Hainan chicken would not be complete without the rice! Anyway, the chicken was ok, not as good as some of the reviewers here thought, but not bad either. I have yet to find a restaurant in HK that manages to get its Hainan chicken right (welcome anyone who can correct me), so I am not comparing to very high standards here.
The waiter recommended the pork leg cooked in Thai style, which we felt obliged to order. But it was a disappointment, as the meat was not tender and juicy.
The satay was another disappointment but again, no one does satay 100 % right in HK.
Tom yum Kung was ok, so was the stir fried vegetables and the drinks we ordered.
To sum it up, it is a satisfying meal, for a reasonable price but I would not be making another journey to come all the way to this part of HK island just to eat here, unless I happen to be in the neighborhood.
