Imsook Thai is a new Thai place in Causeway Bay that I noticed while on my way to my regular noodle shop. I noticed they had a special for all you can eat skewers and beer and mentioned it to boyfriend. This peaked his interest so we decide to give it a try one evening for dinner.Located at V Point, it's located on the ground floor. It's average size establishment with fairly spacious seating. Located at V Point, it's located on the ground floor. It's average size establishment with fairly spacious seating. The place serves Thai food but we were here for the all you can eat deal. For $288 per person (a minimum of two people are needed), you get an appetizer, one choice of main and all you can eat skewers and beer for 90 minutes. If you don't like beer, you can choose to upgrade to $68 for all you can drink red or white wine OR just change to one bottle of red or white wine.
The skewers are ordered by checking off a piece of paper. They only have eight different types of skewers to choose from. Menu is in English and Chinese.
Beer is a pretty decent choice. They offer Asahi, Singha, Chang and Carlsberg. They all come by the bottle (or can) a d not on tap. Even though we choose different beers, they still poured it into a Singha glass.
The appetizer was a Thai style raw shrimp. It was two per person.
The shrimp was fresh and it was fairly spicy.
From the choices of main, we chose grilled lobster. The lobster was fairly good with a lovely smothering of garlic and butter! That's my favorite way to have lobster.
Then the orders of the skewers arrived. Skewers were served with a nice peanut satay sauce. We decided to try all eight selections to see what we liked and not liked. The beef skewers were really excellent. A very savory marinade was used and the meat was moist. The chicken meat was ok though not dry so a good sigh. The pork was pretty good as well. The chicken wings were ok. Not enough seasoning but at least not over cooked.
The grilled oysters were not that great. I think a bit too dry from over grilling. The mussels fared better.
The corn was super sweet and crunchy. All it needed was some butter.
The squid was not that great. We didn't get order a repeat of these. A bit too dry.
For $288 per person, it was a fairly good deal if you want to drink and have some food. Food does take a while to be brought out. There isn't a huge variety of skewers but for what was provided at this price along with beer, I felt it was a decent value. So, if you drink, this is a really good value and definitely would recommend it to those that just want to drink.
