First time here at crowne super deluxe and although I wasn’t blown away with the food, their service was on another level. We arrived at the venue 15 mins late because we couldn’t locate the restaurant but the staff was still super friendly and welcoming. As for the food, I’d say it’s just ok. The salad and sashimi were pretty normal. The sweet cold tomato was quite enjoyable. While the Hokkaido scallop was decent, but I wish they would have used a thicker more flavourful sauce. Otherwise, it was cooked perfectly: not too tough.

As for the main, I’d say it was the most lacklustre part of the experience. The Australian wagyu wasn’t particularly rich and didn’t have a strong umami taste. Without the garlic chips on the side, the taste was kinda one dimensional. I also tried the Japanese wagyu but it wasn’t anything much. It lacked the melt in your mouth kinda feeling that’s usually associated with wagyu.

However, the fried rice was great! Not too oily, but had an enjoyable savouriness to it. A great way to end the entire meal.

Decor wise, the entire place is aesthetically pleasing. It looks expensive and luxurious, but what’s what I’d expect from a menu that’s roughly 700-1300 HKD. The staff was super attentive and loved joking around, lightening the mood. Towards the end, we moved onto the bar/lounge and had free sake shots (bday). Then the restaurant had a psychic to entertain us. Honestly this was the best part of the entire experience. It lowkey blew my mind when he guessed our answers from a few dice games. No clue if he’s always here but this really separated crowne super deluxe from a normal teppanyaki place. However, if you prefer to have a more chill or private dining experience, this place isn’t for you. Would I come again? Maybe, but probably not often. It’s definitely worthwhile to check out.
