I brought some out of town visitors as a coworker had suggested this place for good local dai pai dong food. We didn't make a reservation so we got there early to try out luck. Luckily, we did manage to get a table since we were there before 7. This place is located in a wet market building so it's not the cleanest or most comfortable dining environment. Beer served in a bowl is their signature here. The bowl is ice cold so the temperature of the beer is preserved. It was an interesting experien
Beer served in a bowl is their signature here. The bowl is ice cold so the temperature of the beer is preserved. It was an interesting experience to drink beer out of a bowl. I had done my reserch online and ordered some of the most recommended dishes like the wind sand chicken. The chicken had crispy skin and juicy meat while the secret sauce enhanced the taste of the chicken. It was quite expensive though even for just half a chicken.
My favorite cantonese dish to get is always the sweet and sour pork. It was just okay here since the outside was not crispy enough and the sauce was too sour. Another popular dish was the duck sauce lotus leaf rice. The rice arrived wrapped in lotus leaf in a big wooden steamer bowl. It was surprisingly huge! There was a faint smell but not strong like fried rice. Unfortunately I was not too impressed with the taste as it was quite bland and I didn't taste any duck or particular flavor. I think there are plenty of other options for cantonese food in a better setting since it wasn't cheap to eat here either.
