Yardbird reminds me of a typical trendy joint that can be found in Los Angeles. The vibe is modern and trendy, but very laid back. Yardbird reminds me of a typical trendy joint that can be found in Los Angeles. The vibe is modern and trendy, but very laid back. I love the decor and the loud hustle and bustle of this place, reminding me of an authentic Japanese Izakaya of some sort. The staff was all very friendly. Informed us that they do not take reservations, and that your entire dinner party must be present in order to be seated. While waiting for our table, we decided to get a few appetizers- edamame (standard), house sake (cute packaging) and the famed and celebrated dish of KFC (Korean Fried Cauliflower) which was delicious. Honestly the batter on the outside was light and cripsy and not too thick, with a hint of sweet and spicy notes similar to gochujang (korean spicy paste). I felt like it was laced with crack!

After a few bottles of house sake ($200 each) we finally got seated and started off with cold cucumbers in peanut sauce (very refreshing).

Other highlights of the evening:

*Chicken Breast skewer- super tender
*Chicken Meatballs- amazing! Delicious
*Chicken Wings- tender and juicy however a bit small

Yes, the portions are small, and the price is a bit high... however I believe that the quality is outstanding. The service is top notch and it made a guy like me not feel so homesick anymore. Bravo Yardbird. I am a fan and will be back!
