This was my second time to visit this branch of Years. If it wasn’t for running errands nearby I would not have chosen to visit this restaurant.

This time I didn’t have to wait to be seated as I saw a free table by the door (that can be separated to two two-seater tables) so my friend and I decided to walk in to take a seat. The staff separated the four person table to two two-seater tables and we sat down at one of the tables as indicated by the staff.

All was “normal” until we waved at one the staff to help us place our order. When my friend only said two words about ordering, this staff member requested that we move tables and sit opposite the cashier (which I have to say was way less roomy) as the staff explained to us a party of 3 was outside and they wanted them to sit them at this original four seater table (2x two-seater), which was where we were seating.

So us being good Samaritans we moved to this less roomier table in which we were then given menus again. However, the staff that asked us to move disappeared and we could not flag down another staff to help us to put down our order. At that time we found the service was lacking and this was extremely rude as we had complied with the restaurant’s request.

After some fruitless efforts of flagging down staff, another staff member then came over helped to note down order. As this table we a4e now sitting at was opposite the kitchen counter and cashier, we were pretty much squashed to the wall as to avoid the servers, guests coming to pay, and the rest of the staff coming in and out of the kitchen.

While we were eating, we also saw our original table was separated again to 2x two-seater and a couple was sitting at our original seat, with the said 3-person party nowhere to be seen. Moreover, a single woman that came in later than us and the couple was directed to sit at another table near the door that is much roomier than our current and previous two-seater table. However, when the nicest table that is situated next to the sidewalk was available she was able to move there to sit with no objections from any of the staff members. In the end, she and her friend were table to sit at a four-person table when clearly they would be fine with a two-person table as they were not seen with any backpacks or big bags that would require a separate seat.

My friend and I were absolutely dejected. To rub more salt into our wounds, the customers that sat at our spot was served food much faster than us even though they put down their orders later than us. This means that not just the front-house staff but the kitchen also has issues which they can work on and improve.

As we had sat near the cashier area and basically next to the kitchen and where most of the staff members were working, I could feel that the staff member that had asked us to move was purposefully trying to ignore us. The only time she walked over at her own will was to take away our finished plates so it’s basically a signal to tell us to leave. I think they have overestimated the amount of people that would come here on a Friday night at 8pm because during the time we dined and when we left we did not see a single person needing to wait outside for a table.

Even thought there is a dine in limit which is over an hour for dinner, my friend and I left the restaurant after finishing our meal in 15 minutes. We still did not understand why they had asked us to move and we guess we never will.

Oh and of course for the food review. The food was so-so. I ordered an impossible meat patty burger with sweet potato fries and my friend an impossible meat spaghetti bolognaise. We had the tea for drinks that came with the dinner set. Nothing spectacular that would want to make me come back here a third time. If anyone wants to try this place they can but they would probably be better off at eating at any vegan place in Hong Kong that is roomier with better customer service and attitude.
