Boyfriend and I were heading for dinner when we bumped into his BFF. As his friend didn't have any dinner plans and it seemed he wanted to join us for dinner, we changed our plans and decided to eat Korean BBQ and the closest place at the time was BBQ 7080. We had gone there before but when we arrived, it appeared they had changed their menu completely.BBQ 7080 is a restaurant with several locations that feature Korean BBQ with a fun theme like setting. BBQ 7080 is a restaurant with several locations that feature Korean BBQ with a fun theme like setting. When I first tried this a year ago, you order by the plate with a nice bilingual menu and photos. But now, it has changed. Now, it has become all you can eat BBQ and hotpot. Yes, for those indecisive people who can't decide if they want to hotpot or grill meat, you can do it both here. I'm unsure when they changed to this new concept but it must have been new as there was a promotional price. Originally $238, it's now $198 per person for two hours of nonstop eating.
Menu is now in the form of a check list that is in Chinese only. There is no more English. Hotpot items are on a green sheet. BBQ items are on a yellow sheet. They have certain special meat items that cost more for an added $38/$50/$88 per person. We chose a few of those items from the $38 as we wanted something that wasn't found on the regular ones. Drinks are all you can drink and found at the fridge at the corner near the elevator. Alcohol not included.
Upon sitting down, we were presented with spicy soybean paste, garlic and chillis. They had a roaming tray that contained other items for making a hotpot dipping sauce. They also gave us lettuce for wrapping our grilled meat. The grill pan also had groves on the sides for grilling ever popular egg. This was actually quite fluffy after we grilled it. They also gave us some cheese and kimchi for a different type of eating experience. We ordered various meat such as pork, chicken and beef. We also ordered some mini octopus. It seemed they placed everything together so we weren't really sure what meat was what until after we grilled it. Quality of meat was ok though it was better when they weren't all you can eat. We had a round of eel to grill. This was actually pretty good but a bit difficult to grill as it kept sticking to the pan. But it tasted good, very fresh with no fishy after taste. They also had hot food items on the all you can eat menu. We decided to try the seafood pancake. A small one came out and it was ok though a bit too much flour. We reheated it on the grill pan to make it a bit more crispier. By the end of the meal, we were too full to try out any of the hotpot items so we decided to call it a night.
Service was pretty effecient. When we ran out of gas, the staff was quick to change it for us. This was also for the grill plate when it got too dirty with gunk. Not expensive all you can eat option where you order by checking off a menu instead of buffet style which makes for it being a lot more hygenic. The only thing is the items that are ordered seemed to be placed all in one plate. This was a bit ... well, not pretty to look at. There was one plate that where the meat was marinated in a spicy sauce and it was placed with other items that were not supposed to be spicy. This made everything that was placed together with that meat spicy and as someone who can't really eat spicy, this made it difficult for me to eat anything off that plate.
