We got off to a bumpy start as nobody seemed to speak any English. Reminded us of the first time we visited the New Territories 30 years ago. Not for the first time then did we order blind from the menu. We ordered 5 dishes costing about $20 each. The first to arrive was a crispy savoury pancake, great start. 2, a thick rolled up rice pancake with sugar and coconut inside. Yummy 😋. The first to arrive was a crispy savoury pancake, great start. 2, a thick rolled up rice pancake with sugar and coconut inside. Yummy 😋. Next came a big plate of rice rolls with sesame seeds. Beautifully cooked and three delicious sauces. 4th we struck out, along came the chicken feet. In 8 visits to HK and many other SE Asian countries we haven't eaten these. Today no different, so I can't tell you if they were any good.
As the last dish arrived, 5 of the best wantons I have ever had in a little broth, we found a menu with some English and when we ordered some goose the waitress spoke to us in English. We asked about a $35 special written on a small docket. It was a chicken dish, but that was all she could tell us.
Both dishes were great, the chicken sliced and steamed with steamed but still crisp green vegetable and rice, the goose tender moist and tasty.
A long trip from Central, but turns out well worth it.
The prices on the yum cha also seemed very reasonable (see my review of Perfume River).
All up for two people about $300 and we couldn't even fit a egg tart from the bakery across the way for another hour.
