Dicken's Bar is a bar located in the basement of the Excelsior Hotel in Causeway Bar. Not only does it have a very extensive beer selection, it serves some pretty decent British classics for a fair price.

My friend's fiance wanted a place to watch the football game, so we came here so the guys could watch and the girls could eat. As we sat at a table instead of the bar area, there is a minimum charge of $250/person.

Buffalo Wings ($98). The group of us shared the buffalo wings. Wings were juicy though not too spicy. A bit too much on the sour side and not enough spice. But that was ok for me as I can't eat spicy but my friends who could thought it could have done with a bit more heat. I appreciated that it was served with ranch dressing. So, many places in Hong Kong don't serve buffalo wings with ranch dressing. They always taste better with ranch dressing.

Jalepeno Cheese Poppers ($88). We also shared this appetizer. This was surprisingly not spicy at all. Lots of lovely cheese. This was pretty good.

Steak and Kidney Pie ($188). Boyfriend and I shared this because I didn't want to eat too much and from past experiences I've been here, portion size was quite big. A lovely puff pastry top revealed a steaming rich beef broth with plenty of kidney and steak. The mashed potato was heavenly as you could taste the butter. I love that this place believes in using butter in their mashed potato.

Pork Belly ($288). The group of us shared this as we only had a couple of hundred dollars left to make the minimum charge. Pork skin was crunchy. Meat was moist. The apple sauce was fantastic and tasted like fresh apples. But the winner of this plate was their home made baked beans that was rich in pork flavor. Possibly the best baked beans I've ever had.

We also order some drinks as well. The food was pretty good and not overly expensive. The service was amazing. The waitress was always smiling. But what was great was that originally we had eight people but a couple of my friends left early. The staff was so nice to just count six people at our table instead of the original eight so we could spend less for our minimum charge. The staff just did it for us even though we didn't request it. So kind!
