Having heard all the buzz about the renovations at Brown, I decided to check out if it was all hype, or was indeed, a transformed hip and trendy bar. It took me by surprise - I was completely enchanted with the place. The atmosphere was very cosmopolitan & relaxed. For dinner, I had the Linguine alla vongole - it had a generous complement of perky clams, expertly timed noodles and perfectly peppery, chili-flecked seasoning. The quality of ingredients was above par & the menu is well-composed, with dishes to please both Asian and European patrons.
The Dessert of the Day was a colorful & flavorful Lemon Lovers' Sabayon Tart. And - WOW - that was perfection right there.
I have to say that this was one of the best Lemon Tarts I’ve ever tasted. The crumbly biscuitty crust makes a world of difference to plain sweet pastry. It was as tangy, sharp and mouth-puckery as I like it.
A must visit while in Happy Valley.
