Our Chef for this Table -
I am flattered tonight, as I am sitting together with the owner of the world famous COEDO Beer, as well as Japanese TV Celebrity Kei-San from TVB. Thanks to Ivan the COEDO beer distributor for organizing this indeed.

Abalone, Firefly Squid and Edamame. Paired with COEDO Kyara Vienna Lager style Beer -
The abalone was served with the abalone liver intact, it was sweet and not bitter. It worked well enough with the crispy COEDO Kyara beer. The Squidz in the middle were so fresh and crunchy, I am really glad that they didn’t get served past their prime date as they were amazingly fresh. ~ 9/10

Sashimi with COEDO Ruri Pilsener Beer -
The Prawns, Salmon and buri King Fish were quite fresh. The crispness of this slightly dry hoppy beer balanced with the raw seafood. I normally like eating Sashimi with Kirin Ichiban beer due to the sweetness, but this clean Pilsener was balanced too, and not as distracting as a dry Asahi Super-Dry, which I assume works better with yakitori or kushiyaki skewers. ~ 8/10

Grilled Zucchini -
Foiled wrapped and half grilled then half steamed. This was quite pleasant and the wheat beer Hefeweizen characteristics was one of my favourites for the night. I find Japanese beers to be generally too sweet for me but this was more on the drier side. ~ 8/10

Grilled Alaskan Crab Legs with also, COEDO Shiro beer -
I was pleasantly surprised. I have had a lot of grilled crabs in general in HK and haven’t gotten around to posting those reviews, but I have got to say this had both a crustacean aroma as well as good grilled crab sweetness. Very happy with this and probably multiple times over what I expected too. ~ 10/10

COEDO Beniaka beer with Smoked, then Further Grilled Duck Breast -
Amazing ! This was a match in heaven indeed. The Beniaka red beer I have had before and on it’s own can be quite sweet, but the smoky duck breast was twice cooked and had a lovely skin aroma, worked together like a pair of fitting gloves with this beer. ~ 10/10

稲庭 Inaniwa Udon -
With Mushrooms. Served in a Sake Masu box.
This was decent but not sure how it fits in with the below Pork Dish.

Grilled Pork with Beniaka beer -
The well caramelized pork was sweetish enough to counter the slightly sweetish Beniaka beer. Another perfect marriage. Mine pieces of pork were slightly over-cooked though but it has a good porks taste. ~ 7/10

Mochi Wrap with the COEDO Shikkoku -
The dark lager beer style was surprisingly paired with this lovely and elegant dessert. I think this was being imposed as an alternative offering rather than aiming to be a perfect pairing, as both spell sweetness.. They don’t work well perfectly as a pairing but they are both sweet in a different way! ~ 7/10
