So happy that I got another farewell cake treated by one of my colleagues. It was from Big Grains, which seemed to be famous for its bread products. Amongst many other flavours, I picked this Ultimate Hazelnut Tart. Ultimate Hazelnut Tart $50First of all, it looked quite pretty with obviously two distinct parts, the mousse on top and the tart at the bottom. The top part was covered by a thin layer of caramel glaze wrapping a lot of hazelnut dacquoise, some airy hazelnut whipped ganache, and hazelnut ganache inside. It was topped by some crushed nuts and 2 candied hazelnuts which were not so crispy though unfortunately. It was super rich in hazelnut and it had a super smooth texture.

The bottom chocolate tart was made by super crunchy and thick almond shortbread base with some classic almond cream and some chocolate sauce on top. Texturewise I liked how it was so crunchy while flavourwise I liked the chocolate haha.

So the overall flavour and texture were quite good. Some may find it a bit too sweet but it was fine to me. Given the flavour and size, I would say even the normal price of $50 was acceptable. Look forward to trying more of its cakes later!

That said, my colleague bought a lot of cakes but many of them were damaged during delivery because they were not fixed securely in the box. It was a big big discount for the purpose of these cakes. For those who want delivery please think twice.
