Grappa's is conveniently located in Central, and so it is a popular venue for office-workers in the Central area. The chicken marsala was really regrettable, because I have to say that the chicken was cooked beautifully - moist and served piping hot. The potatoes were also very well-cooked -- tender on the inside with a delicate crunch on the outside. Unfortunately, the entire dish was bland; the sauce had absolutely no flavor. There was absolutely no taste of marsala in the dish at all. To describe the taste of the sauce, it tasted like a mix of dark soy sauce, water, and cornstarch. Again, so regrettable considering the protein and sides were cooked beautifully. Finally, the tiramisu, which was very good -- it was not overly sweet and the coffee flavor was very pronounced:
The strawberries and blueberries were pleasant garnishes, but I was a bit perplexed at what I think was a gooseberry garnish. In any case, the tiramisu was the best part of the meal.Service was friendly and the restaurant is spacious. Although the tiramisu was very good, the disappointment of the starter and entree made the entire meal lackluster. Improvements can be made with the minestrone and marsala sauce.
