Grocery shopping at the wet market before heading home, I came across 振興肉丸. It seemed new and I went in for a peak. It was a store that sold frozen various frozen meat balls in neat packages. 振興肉丸 orignally from Tai Po, I've seen this product in various pop-up fairs in department store grocery sections. The signage explained that this brand has been in Hong Kong since 1967 and is still made in Hong Kong. The shop also has packaged sauces and other items as well. The frozen items are found in well

The frozen items are found in well kept freezers. All were labelled in English and Chinese. Some packages are in labelled packages with all the ingredients in them. They also offer larger portions that do not have ingredient labels on them.
They also have pre-cooked balls for take away as well.
I decided to try a few and bought four packages of balls. They packaged it in a cooler bag for me so it would keep at least a little frozen by the time I got home.
For lunch the next day, I decided to try them out and boyfriend came over. I made a bowl of noodles and popped one of each ball to give it a try.
Cheesey Dumplings ($34.20) was something the staff told me was popular. And wow was it cute. It looked like a dumpling.
Biting into it, the fish ball meat was firm. But the best was the cheese. Unlike a lot of other brands, the cheese is usually very stretchy. But this wasn't the case here. It didn't lava out but it was creamier. In fact, it actually tasted more like cheese than other brands. I was impressed. This was good.
Black Pepper Beef Balls ($30) was their signature product so I had to try that.
The meat was firm. The taste of beef was strong. And it was really peppery. A lot more peppery than other brands I've had. So, if you want a kick, this is it!
Chives Stuffed Beef Balls ($22.50) was definitely different than the normal brand I buy.
The inside was filled with a juicy ball of chives. The ones I usuallly try have a bit of pork meat in it as well but this was all chives. I liked this version a lot more. It made it more juicy.
Wasabi Salad Cod Roe Stuffed Fish Balls ($26) are balls I usually buy so I was curious to see how this fared up.
The fish meat was firm. And the inside was filled with a creamy roe. It said there was wasabi, but it wasn't very strong at all. I detected it, but it wasn't strong so easily missed. But the filling was great.
Pretty delicious variety of balls. Price was not expensive at all compared to my usual brand. The place is close by and the shop is clean and tidy, I will return and try other flavors.
