Came here for a two year anniversary with my partner. Environment was nice, had a stunning view of the harbour, so we had high expectations. However, the food and service were really disappointing.
To start with, waitresses were huddled in a group muttering to each other during early dinner hours, and ignored my calling to order. (Pretty sure they saw my hand cause they glanced over, but it was another waiter guy that came to my table in the end, and it was after multiple times of raising my hand. Didn’t expect that I had to go through a rigorous arm work out before dinner)
The waiter guy who came over was polite though, and did make our mood a bit better by attending to our needs, but he was the only guy who had a proper attitude, the others were just really not sensible, no refills for sparkling water until we asked for it, and no change of plates either.
Continuing on to the food, the sashimi platter, which we added for an additional 300+ish HKD, tasted stale and had a weird rusty aftertaste. Amount was tiny with just a few sad slabs of sashimi lying on a plain tiny plate. For the mains, my partner really enjoyed the sauce for the beef steak cause it was cooked beautifully, paired with a savoury and lightly sweet sauce (that’s the dish that gave the food rating a star). I had the cod fish, and sadly, it tasted like a typical airplane meal kind of fish. Dry like a wrung towel and had almost no sauce whatsoever to eat it with. The sides were boring mash potatoes that tasted grainy and nasty peas that were overcooked. Couldn’t finish it.
The desserts were tiny in portion too, lemon sherbet ice cream tasted artificial, but the tiramisu was not bad (except whoever made it might have slipped a whole bottle of coffee or vanilla powder on top of the cake, making it super bitter at the first few bites
All in all, very VERY DISAPPOINTING experience. Kinda ruined our anniversary night, and we ended going home, feeling cranky and cooking ourselves some ramen instead. The only good thing about this restaurant is it probably makes you realise how good your OWN food is, and we would NOT RECOMMEND this place to friends and family, ever. You can do better, AQUA. COME ON.
