Tried this chain’s old rest. at Telford (dinner) and new rest. at Waichai (lunch), both were good. Went for dinner at this TST one last night, BIG MISTAKE, TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE !!!!!! We ordered a set for 2 that the waiter recommended. He claimed it was worth $948 and now on special offer for $588.
Starter, a seafood platter (the waiter said the seafoods were replenished 2 times a week) :
4 mussels –so dry that you can tell it’s been in the fridge for over 2 weeks.
2 oysters –tasteless; and the most awful of all is –they were warm!!
6 shrimps –2 were rotten (even can tell by sight);
4 snails –all smelled.
We couldn’t stand the shrimps and the snails and complained to the waiter. They changed us another 4 shrimps and 2 snails, but they were just the same - smelled. We asked them to clear them away rather than risking our lives. The waiter did so immediately and showed no regret at all.
Salad –Smoke salmon and vegetable salad, ok.
Soup –ok, but the way the waiter served it was terrible, just like 茶餐廳, so rude.
Main course:
Lamb chop –80% was fats, almost no meat. We ordered medium cooked (in English), it came like blue rare or rare. I think this is the problem with most of the HK restaurants, they understand medium = half not cooked!
Lobster –what I could find was only the sauce, the meat disappeared. Giving them the benefit of doubt, I asked the waiters how it was cooked. The first one said the half baby lobster (cut longitudinally) should have been baked with cheese and mushroom sauce on it, and went to check with the chef. The second waiter came a moment later and said the lobster meat was chopped and mixed with the sauce. But when I asked him to show me the meat, he offered to change to rib-eye right away!!
The rid-eye –the quality you can easily find in Fairwood Cafe for $40 a set….
Dessert –Tiramisu, even the McCafe one would be better.
Coffee –no comment, what could you still expect?
No wonder why this restaurant, though located at TST Gatewaywas, was only 30% full even on Sunday night 7:00 to 8:30pm. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY…...!!!!
