Best friend came back from US and wanted some Chinese food. Traditional Chinese restaurants were not special, so we brought him here to have home dishes. Located not far away from APM on the main street, it was very easy to reach. When we arrived, the green decorations made us feeling like at another world out of the industrial building. It was a great contrast to the old-style building lobby and lift. All of us were surprised by the cozy interiors. The floral open kitchen and wood furniture

When we arrived, the green decorations made us feeling like at another world out of the industrial building. It was a great contrast to the old-style building lobby and lift.
All of us were surprised by the cozy interiors. The floral open kitchen and wood furniture made us feel so comfortable like home.
There was even a sofa for us to rest.
The area were spacious. It was good for big family dinner and children could play around.
I was attracted by the chopstick holders when we were seated. They were so cute!!
Iced Fish Maw
The menu is set before when we made reservation. It was HK$350/person with 8 dishes and dessert.
Here we came the appetiser, Iced Fish Maw.
Full with black truffles sesame sauce, the iced fish maw was elastic and savory which is good for the hot summer.
The cucumber was refreshing and balanced the favour of black truffles.
Turtle Plastron Soup
As a Chinese, we all knew the turtle was one of transition Chinese medicine which was good for health. And the turtle plastron soup was well-know for detoxification.
Actually I did not like Chinese herbs soup so much because they were a bit bitter... But this soup with Matsutake changed my mind.
The Matsutake mushroom made the soup sweet and even cover the bitterness of turtle plastron. Soup was sooooo big. Each of us at least had 2 bowls to finis it.
Fried Shrimps with Soy Sauce
Fried Shrimps with Soy Sauce was a traditional Canto dish that every family would make. It looked simple but hard to make it good.
The shrimps were big like my palm. They were fresh and crunchy. We could feel the the soy sauce in every bite. We all thought just one shrimp for each person was not enough. We all wanted more XD
The chef said they would bring two family signature dishes to the menu. This was one of them.
Cheong's Mama Stewed Pork Belly
The stewed pork belly was soft and ambrosial.
It looks greasy but it actually not. The fat was very smooth. Though we eat 4-5 pieces, we did not feel oily.
It was heavenly good to eat the rice with the sauce of stewed pork belly. To be special, the chef served the steamed bun (Mantou) for the yummy sauce.
Vegetable Stock with Caterpillar Fungus
After the heavy favoured pork belly, it was time for something light.
The vegetable was crispy. With the present of Caterpillar Fungus, the sweetness of stock was more obvious. This dish was good for refreshing after the pork belly.
Roasted Duck with Sticky Rice
After the vegetable, let's go meaty again.
Chinese always say: Cannot eat without rice. So the chef designed this roasted duck filled with sticky rice.
The duck was roasted perfectly. The meat was tender and full of sticky rice favour. The lettuce underneath soaked up the oil and made the duck more palatable.
Apart from sticky rice, there were chestnut and salted duck egg inside the duck. Absorbing all favours, the sticky rice was flavoursome.
The duck was too big for us four... We could just finished half and took another half home.
Deep Fried Eel
Seasoning with multifloral honey, the eel tasted quite sweet. It was crispy and juicy even deep fried.
Grandma Yip's Winter Melon
The last dish to finish this dinner was another family dish - Grandma Yip's Winter Melon.
To make the winter melon tasted not plain, a piece of Chinese salty ham (Jinhua ham) was inserted in the middle.
Some dried shrimp crumbs were added to enrich the flavour. These perfectly matched the winter melon.
Panna Cotta
Unlike the usual Panna Cotta, this one was made with Palm sugar imported directly from Taiwan.
Palm sugar was a healthy food which fitted the diabetic, so this Panna Cotta was suitable for children and the elderly.
The Panna Cotta is quite smooth, the favour of palm sugar tasted like caramel. It made the Panna Cotta more special.
